Canfield library reopens

YOUNGSTOWN– The Canfield branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has now reopened, joining Sebring among the branches now open to the public. Greenford Library remains closed due to being too small for adequate social distancing. Curbside pickup of materials including books, movies and WiFi hotspots remains available at the Sebring and Canfield locations.

Masks or face coverings over the nose and mouth must be worn by all patrons using the library. Children 6 years of age and older must also wear masks. The Library will have masks available at no charge for those who need them. Staff will be wearing masks. Patrons who have a medical reason they cannot wear a mask or face covering are advised to phone the library in advance to talk with staff about how their library needs can be met.

Sebring capacity is limited to 14 with the hours 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Canfield is limited to 70 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The first hour of operation will be reserved for senior patrons 65 and older as well as vulnerable patrons of any age with underlying health conditions. Children 7 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 or older.

Borrowed materials cannot yet be returned inside libraries. For safety sake, materials must be returned in Book Drops and Media Drops outside all Mahoning County libraries. Returned materials will be quarantined for four days before being returned to the collection. Because of the quarantine period, patrons may notice a delay before the returned items are credited to their account. Fines will not be charged during this time.
