Salem Mobile Meals holds 44th Annual Meeting

SALEM– On June 4, by way of video conference, board members, volunteers and donors making up the membership of Mobile Meals of Salem, Ohio Inc., met for their 44th Annual Meeting. Special recognition was given to Doris Nuckols who, during her time of service, donated hundreds of hours and she will be sorely missed.

Sandy Blankenship, coordinator, explained that since 1976, the volunteers of Mobile Meals have delivered over 315,355 meals and between June 1, 2019 thru May 31, 2020, volunteers worked 1,848 hours and delivered 6,283 meals.

Once again, even in the midst of the COVID-19 virus, Mobile Meals has not failed to deliver a meal since it was incorporated in 1976.

President Geoff Goll extended his thanks on behalf of the Board to the 28 volunteers who donated their time during the last year, to the Salem Regional Medical Center and for all of the charitable contributions that Mobile Meals has received from LCBA Branch 654, Salem Rotary Club Foundation, The Salem Community Foundation, Farmers Bank Charitable Fund and Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

At a Board Meeting following the Annual Meeting, the Board welcomed back Amy Reed, Laurel Todd, Jean McCullough, Becky Halverstadt, Gina Dermotta and Carol Patterson. Goll was re-elected president of Mobile Meals with Attorney Barbara Plummer elected vice president, Karen Sebo as secretary and Laurel Todd as treasurer.

While Mobile Meals of Salem, Ohio Inc. operates five days a week, Monday through Friday, volunteers may donate any amount of time, from one day a month to one day a week. Volunteers meet at the Salem Regional Medical Center to pick up the meals and deliver them to clients throughout three routes. The driving time for each route is approximately one hour and additional volunteers would be quite helpful.

Mobile Meals is available to any individual that has the need. Call 330-332-2160 for any information as to the Mobile Meals program.
