VFW auxiliary selling salads
WASHINGTONVILLE – The Washingtonville VFW Post 5532 Auxiliary will hold its annual Steak or Chicken Salad sale from noon to 6 p.m. or until sold out Oct. 17 at the post home, 575 S. County Road. The salads are made with fresh ingredients and include fresh cut fries, choice of dressing and roll. Drive-by at 330-427-2533. Cost is $10.
SPL offers coke ovens program
SALEM– The Salem Public Library will host Youngstown State University Associate Professor Thomas E. Leary online, via Zoom, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday to delve into the history of the Cherry Valley Beehive Coke Ovens of Leetonia and to experience the scope and scale of industrial production as it once was (and, in some places, still exists). The talk will incorporate the local beehives in the larger context of steel heritage preservation with mention of additional sites and projects of interest. Registration is required and may be done online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or by calling the library at 330-332-0042. The talk is open to the public and free of cost to attend.
Banquet to feature meatball subs
SALEM– Doug Falk will sponsor the Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone (no later than 7 p.m.) Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include meatball subs, peas and carrots, coleslaw, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. Line up is behind the Memorial Building with guidance from a parking attendant.
