Eagle Scout in New Waterford

Dalton Hart of New Waterford successfully completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review on Oct. 29 and is the newest Eagle Scout of Boy Scout Troop 22 of New Waterford. Dalton completed his Eagle Scout project despite the challenges of working around the pandemic. Dalton built a 16-foot long by 16-foot wide foot bridge to the U6/U8/U10 soccer fields at Crestview High School. He got the idea for his project while helping a fellow troop member work on his Eagle Scout project that also benefited the soccer complex. Dalton began construction on May 24 and it was completed on July 11. He was able to construct the bridge thanks to the donations of material from local businesses and the donation of time from family, friends and members of BSA Troop 22. Dalton has successfully earned 26 merit badges on his trail to becoming an Eagle Scout and he has also earned an Eagle Palm for his efforts. The project took an estimated 95.5-man hours and was completed in time for the delayed soccer season. Dalton would like to thank 84 Lumber, A Plus Powder Coaters, Inc. and Alcon Mechanical Piping for their donations of materials. He also said that he could not have completed the bridge in such a timely manner without the mentorship of JD Mackall and the help of members and leaders of Troop 22. Dalton’s parents, Derrick and Dawn Hart, will be planning an Eagle Scout ceremony in January. (Submitted photos)
