Two nominated for service academies

WASHINGTON – Two local youths are among those nominated for U.S. Service Academy appointments by Congressman Bill Johnson:

-Orion Kolkowski, who attends Beaver Local High School, U.S. Naval Academy.

-Spencer Bush, who attends South Range High School, U.S Military Academy.

Johnson was assisted by a seven-member, volunteer military service academy nomination board from the district, which conducted virtual interviews with applicants in November. The final decision is up to the military academies.

Johnson served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as lieutenant colonel in 1999 after 26 years.
