Harvest for Hunger now through April
YOUNGSTOWN – Beginning Saturday through April 3, customers can help provide food to those in need by donating $1, $5 or $10 at all Giant Eagle locations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The donation will be added to their grocery bill.
Harvest for Hunger, one of the largest annual, community-wide food and funds drives, takes place in 21 counties in Northeast Ohio during February, March and April this year. The campaign is a collaborative effort of four food banks, including Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, and Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. All funds raised and food collected in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties will remain in the communities. The 2021 Harvest for Hunger sponsors are Giant Eagle, 21 WFMJ & WBCB, The Tribune/Vindicator, Cumulus Radio Stations Y-103, HOT 101, K-105, and Z-104, and UFCW Local 880.
Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, a member of Feeding America, provides food to those in need in the tri-county area through 160 agencies and programs provided by hunger-relief organizations, which include church pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, shelters for battered women, school pantries, and after-school programs.
