Mahoning J&J vax on hold
Mahoning County Public Health is canceling all appointments for Friday and Saturday for its mass vaccination clinic located at the former Dillard’s site at the Southern Park Mall where the Johnson &Johnson (J&J) vaccine was being administered.
Approximately 525 appointments were already scheduled for the two days. MCPH is in communication with Ohio Department of Health to obtain Moderna or Pfizer vaccine for April 23 and 24.
To date, MCPH has provided approximately 2,800 J&J vaccines to individuals. For those individuals who have health concerns after receiving the J&J vaccine, MCPH is recommending that they contact their primary care physician or seek emergency care if necessary.
Hunting club shoot canceled
The Salem Hunting Club’s concealed carry shoot that was scheduled Thursday has been postponed. Normal scheduling will resume April 29.
VFW Aux. offering breakfast
Salem VFW Post 892 Auxiliary will host a drive-thru breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the post home, 496 Arch St. Haystacks and traditional breakfasts, with scrambled eggs only, will be available for $6 each. No dine-in permitted.
SRMC hosting pain seminar
Dr. Jason Boyd, M.D., a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, will present a free community seminar for people suffering from shoulder pain, entitled “Common Shoulder Problems,” at 6:30 p.m. April 26 at the Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in the Tower Conference Room, located on the ground floor. Doors will open at 6 p.m. so that attendees can view educational displays. Registration is required by calling SRMC at 330-332-7439. Seating is limited to 25 participants due to social distancing requirements, and a face mask is required upon entry to the hospital.
WB booster Bingo Thursday
West Branch Athletic Boosters Bingo will be held at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the Booster building, 26701 U.S. Route 62, Beloit. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with early instant tickets called at 6:15 p.m. Masks and social distancing required. Kitchen will be open, plus instant tickets and computers available. Appliance, metal drive slated
Goshen Township will hold a scrap appliance and metal drive during daylight hours May 8 through 15 at the township garage and recycling center, 12649 Seacrist Road. The drive is open to everyone. Items that will be accepted include air conditioners, barbeque grills, bicycles, brake parts, fencing, freezers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, lawn mowers, microwave ovens, refrigerators, space heaters, washers and driers, water coolers, hot water tanks, wheel rims, wire clothes hangers and any other scrap metal. Items that will not be accepted include televisions, electronics, furniture and tires. For information call 330-205-4204.
No more milkweed seeds
The Mahoning County Extension Office is out of milkweed seeds for 2021. Trumbull County Soil and Water Conservation District Office has a limited amount of milkweed seeds available. The office is located at 520 W. Main St., Suite 3 Cortland and can be contacted at 330-637-2056.
