Pen pals from Heritage Villas visit Sebring kindergarteners

Sebring kindergarten students enjoyed a special visit with their pen pal friends from Heritage Villas on April 14. Since February, Jeana D’Ostroph’s kindergarten students and Heritage Villas residents have been exchanging holiday greetings and gifts. They finally got to meet — socially-distanced across the fence at B.L. Miller’s playground. The kindergarten students shared a letter they wrote to their pen pal friends for the special meeting, reading the letter aloud to the group across the fence. Heritage Villas residents also held up signs made for the event and gifted the students bubbles. The pen pal relationship began in February through collaboration of D’Ostroph, a kindergarten teacher at B.L. Miller, and longtime friend Michele Calderone, director of care services at Heritage Villas. The students and residents have exchanged cards and treats for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. The students are already looking forward to their next communications, where they will be learning to address mail. (Submitted photos)
