Counseling Center of Columbiana County offering new Employment Center
LISBON — Individuals may stop into the new Employment Center, located in Wing B of the Counseling Center of Columbiana County’s main site at 40722 state Route 154 in Lisbon beginning Tuesday to receive one-on-one assistance with online job searching, resume development, navigating an unemployment claim, tips on virtual interviewing and other employment needs.
The goal of the Vocational Program has always been to provide Employment Services to clientele aged 16 and older who have a documented barrier to work that impedes or hinders successful employment. Services are offered on an individualized basis to assist in identifying, obtaining and maintaining employment, based on informed choice and personal abilities.
The program utilizes the core principle practices that research has determined to produce good outcomes for employment. This Evidence-Based Practice is referred to as the Supported Employment Model. The opening of the Employment Center provides individuals with immediate and expanded access to resources that can help in securing employment.
The Employment Center, which houses all vocational staff, a meeting area, and two computer workstations for one-on-one assistance, is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for individuals to stop by without an appointment and get assistance with their employment needs.
The Employment Center was the brain-child of Betty Larkins, Vocational Services Coordinator, to provide an expanded and more accessible one-stop shop experience those seeking employment. Larkins stated, “This will be a great resource for clients who aren’t yet referred for Vocational Services, those who have longer waiting times for rides after other appointments, those who need more frequent access to online job resources, and those who may get overwhelmed visiting our local One Stop.”
Individuals wishing to utilize this resource should stop by the Lisbon location and check in with the Wing B receptionist.
The Counseling Center is a contract agency of the Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
