SRMC cancer support group to meet Oct. 13

SALEM– Community members facing the challenges of a cancer journey can gain encouragement and understanding of this disease during a free support group hosted by University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC).

The group’s next monthly meeting will be held from 3-4 p.m. October 13 in SRMC’s Oncology Conference Room, located on the hospitals second floor, past the Cancer & Infusion Center on the left-hand side.

SRMC’s Cancer Support Group is open to anyone in the community in cancer treatment and cancer survivors. Sessions are led by SRMC’s licensed oncology social worker, and offer education and emotional support for people with any type of cancer. Clinical dietitian Julie Stefanec, will be presenting on nutrition at the October meeting. The group meets one Wednesday a month.

A face mask is required upon entry to the hospital. There is no cost to participate, but pre-registration for the meetings is requested. For questions or to RSVP, call June Semer, MSSA, LSW, at 330-332-7677.
