Winona Strawberry Festival Sunday

The 9th Annual Winona Strawberry Festival will be held Sunday with food service from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy barbecued chicken, sides, sandwiches, homemade pies and ice cream and strawberries. The 1895 Meeting House will be the site of demonstrations of flax scutching, bobbin lace making, use of “old-time” kitchen utensils, gardening of local plants and dulcimer music. Tours of the Meeting House are also available. A 2 p.m. live Kiko Auction offers gift certificates and merchandise, old and new, contributed by local businesses and community members. Vivienne Dunn, auction chairman, is shown with some of the items including a quilt with a hand stitched vintage top, recently machine quilted; an antique ice chest; a strawberry wall quilt and more. Other items of note are an Ertl Collector Edition John Deere 9400T Tractor, a pink John Deere girl’s 20 inch bike, a used 8’x 12′ storage shed with Hardie Board siding (to be removed by buyer). Checks and cash are accepted for food and auction payment. The Winona Area Historical Society is the sponsor of the event on its grounds at the corner of Winona Road and Cameron Street in Winona. Proceeds benefit the society’s programs and building maintenance. (Submitted photo)
