Local man to compete in auction event

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Local resident Brad McGovern will compete in the International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) hosted in San Diego, California on July 29. This will be his first time competing in the IAC, although he isn’t a stranger to competitions. He has won the Ohio Junior Division Championship and placed runner-up in the Ohio Senior Division Championship in August of 2021.

Nearly 60 auctioneers from around the world will go head to head in this competition. They are all judged based on their chant, rhythm, speed, clarity, and stage presence. McGovern is excited and has been prepping for the competition since July of last year. “Last year when I was watching the competition in Minneapolis I was kicking myself for not entering. I knew I had to compete this time around.” he said.

McGovern lives in New Waterford with his wife India and owns and operates McGovern Auctioneers, specializing in benefit and charity auctions. He is also a contract auctioneer and has traveled the country working for multiple auction companies such as Barrett- Jackson. He is also a local real estate agent with Clark Carney Realty Group in Columbiana.

The IAC will be live-streamed on July 29 at 9 a.m. (PDT) on multiple Facebook pages including McGovern Auctioneers LLC., Brad McGovern- Clark Carney Realty Group, National Auctioneers Association, and on the National Auctioneers Association’s YouTube channel.
