Grove Hill Cemetery

All summer flowers and decorations must be removed by Oct. 31 at Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Free hot dogs

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 222 W. Martin St., East Palestine, will be offering free hot dogs,chips and water from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 14 before the varsity football game versus Southern Local. All are invited to come by for the free meal.

Christmas child shoeboxes

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 401 18th St., Wellsville, has volunteered to be a drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this year. Anyone wishing to pack a shoebox can contact Robin at 330-383-0210 or Sam at 330-383-5313 to get a specially designed box or additional information. However, any shoebox will do. A list of suggested items to be packed can be found on Samaritan’s Purse website, as well as the mission objective. Drop-off days are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 25, 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 3, 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14.

Drive thru or dine in

Drive Thru or Dine In Banquet in Salem will be held from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. Drive thru line up in lot behind the Memorial Building; one meal per individuals in vehicle. Dine in will park in designated area behind the Memorial Building and proceed to front door. Sponsor is Salem Community Foundation Youth in Philanthropy. Menu will include pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies.No parking in the library lot. For information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

Community Safety Day

The Columbiana Fire Department will hold its 17th annual Community Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on South Vine Street. The fire department, in conjunction with the city police and EMS, will have safety demonstrations of equipment and capabilities. Free handouts will be available on personal and home safety and preparedness, and there will be food and events for children. All members of the community are welcome.

Food distribution

The Oasis Food Ministry hold a food distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 13 and 27 at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St., Columbiana. Distributions will be drive-thru only; vehicles in line and served according to arrival time and with trunks empty to receive groceries. Must have a photo ID and live in Ohio. Maximum of two households per car. Each household can receive food one time per month.

Drive-thru soup sale

Mile Branch Grange, 495 Knox School Road, Alliance, will hold its monthly drive-thru soup sale Oct. 13. Cost is $8 per quart. This month’s soups will be loaded potato and stuffed pepper. Soup must be pre-ordered by noon Oct. 12. Soup will be available for pick up from 4 to 6 p.m. Call 330-821-8023 and leave name, phone number, type of soup and number of quarts.
