The Town & Country Garden Club of East Palestine holds meeting

EAST PALESTINE — President Darlene Exposito, of The Town & Country Garden Club of East Palestine, welcomed the 19 members present at the June meeting and invited Diana Holzer to say the opening prayer.

Members were invited to get their snack, which was provided by Aubrin, Lynn, Lyndsay and Erin. After fellowship and snack, all members were asked to stand for the pledge. Exposito thanked the snack committee, and reviewed her president’s notes.

Reports given: Treasurer’s report given and approved. Committee reports given next: Darlene L. of the Civic Committee explained the new watering schedule. (A follow up meeting to be scheduled with the village manager to see if they can help with the watering.) Nothing new to report at this time on the Home Tours, Donna gave update on the golf cart. Ways & Means, Susan gave update on raffle tickets and the club’s next event, which will be the Summer Sidewalk Sale. Darlene E. gave update that the club has asked for input from townspeople on recommended yards, then the committee makes the decision.

Yard of the Month for June was then announced. Aubrin sent one card so far since last meeting. Report given by Bonnie on the club’s brainstorming from last meeting, and passed around sign-up sheets for choices of outings for rest of the year. Laura and Michelle of the Horticulture Committee did a presentation on taking care of plants and watering. After the meeting was adjourned, the members participated in learning a new craft – Flower Pounding.

The next meeting will be July 8, which is the annual Membership Drive, with a Pot-Luck Picnic and a White Elephant gift exchange. This will be held at the City Park, at the pavilion near the dog park. Any one interested in becoming a member of the Town & County Garden Club of East Palestine is invited to attend.
