Christmas Light Tours

Volunteer David Hughes has completed decorating the Quakertown Trolley for The Salem Historical Society’s scheduled annual Christmas Light Tours. The one-hour tour will take visitors to Salem’s most beautiful Christmas light displays at businesses and private homes. The cost of the tour is $10 for teens and adults, and $5 for children ages 12 and under, payable at arrival at the museum at 239 S. Lundy Ave. Reservations are recommended by calling 330-337-8514 to guarantee a seat; walk-ons are welcome after reservations are honored. The tours are scheduled for 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13; 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14; 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15; 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22.

Banquet of Lisbon

Lisbon First Christian Church Disciple of Christ will host the Banquet of Lisbon at New Lisbon Presbyterian Church from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16. The menu will include ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls, brownies, ice cream, assorted beverages, and fresh fruits. Dine in only; take out available after 6 p.m.

Christmas service

Lisbon Ministerial Association will hold a Community Christmas Service on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Lisbon Church of the Nazarene. Refreshments to follow.

Holiday open house

Ozer Ministries will be hosting a holiday open house on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ministry will be adorned with whimsical Christmas displays. Ozer will provide gifts for the first 100 attendees, along with light refreshments and cookies. Several decorated Christmas Trees and gift baskets will be included in raffles. Look Nook pop-up shop

The Look Nook at Salem Regional Medical Center is hosting a special one-day Pop-Up Shop with The Starfish Candle Company on Friday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A large assortment of specialty soy candles in many scents and sizes will be available. The sale will also feature several holiday and novelty candles. All major credit cards, cash or Apple Pay will be accepted at the sale. A total of 20% of all proceeds from the sale will be donated back to support patient care at Salem Regional Medical Center. The Look Nook Gift Shop is located next to the cafeteria on the hospital’s ground floor.

Rodman Christmas movie

Rodman Public Library will screen a family Christmas comedy as an interactive viewing experience on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium at Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. The 2003 film, which is rated PG, follows Buddy, a human raised by Santa’s elves who travels to New York City to find his biological father. The film, which stars Will Ferrell and James Caan, runs 1 hours and 30 minutes. Due to licensing agreements, the library cannot publicly announce the title of the film in mainstream media. Those attending the movie will be given a script as well as a bag of props and goodies that will enhance their viewing experience. All movies are free at RPL and fresh popcorn is provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Due to the movie being an interactive event, registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com. All ages are welcome to attend, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Rodman Vinyl Club

After a run of nearly five years, Rodman Public Library’s Byrun Reed will spin the vinyl club’s final tune inside the Main Auditorium on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Although it is called a club, there is no formal membership. All music enthusiasts are welcome to attend the final program, which will partly feature Christmas music. Patrons are encouraged to bring in one of their favorite records to share a selection with the group. “I have enjoyed running the program, but something tells me that it is time for it to come to an end,” said Reed, who conceived the idea of the club in 2019 and ran it virtually through the COVID-19 pandemic. “I have had a lot of fun bringing people together to listen to music and talk.”

Wampum NCTA events

Wampum Chapter, North Country Trail Association will host a Closing the Gaps-Moving the NCT Off Road meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St. The group will be looking at county maps to explore opportunities to move the North Country National Scenic off of the road ways and into the woods, as well as follow up on project.

Wampum Chapter, North Country Trail Association will host a Christmas Eve morning hike at 9 a.m. Dec. 24 at Beaver Creek State Park. The group will meet in the Pioneer Village parking lot, 12021 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, and head east to Gretchen’s Lock before turning back. Feel free to bring some cookies to share afterwards. This is a moderate hike, 5 to 6 miles with a few steeper hills.

Wampum Chapter, North Country Trail Association will host a New Year’s Day hike at 9 a.m. Jan. 1, meeting at 3403 Old Darlington Road, Darlington, Pa., and heading west to Louthan Road before heading back. This is roughly 5.5 miles total and is not considered to be a beginner’s hike, mostly due to the steep hill at the start of the route. Wear appropriate footwear and bring some water.

Angels for Animals holiday

Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, will host a Rabies Vaccination Clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14. Enter Door C-Veterinary Hospital, exit Door D-on the side of the building. Cost is $8 per shot cash only; no appointment necessary. Bring proof of prior vaccinations to receive the three-year booster; without proof of prior vaccination, pet will receive a one-year vaccination only. Owners must have their pets on a leash, in a cage or carrier, or carried in a cloth pillowcase.

Angels for Animals, 4750 South Range Road, Canfield, will host its Light Up Angels with Memories Luminary Lights Dec. 20. Make a $20 donation in memory of a loved one and/or furry friend. Stop out at Angels for Animals, visit angelsforanimals.org or the Angels for Animals Facebook page to order. Luminaries will be lit Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m., refreshments will be available for a donation in Andrews Hall. Proceeds will be used to care for furry friends.
