Rebels selected for CASH Coalition
COLUMBIANA — Crestview High School sophomores Nathaniel Heddleston, Madeline Long and Blake McCowin have been selected for student membership with the CASH Coalition.
This initiative, established in response to the county results of the Search Institute’s Attitudes and Behaviors Survey, aims to amplify student voices within the coalition.
The CASH Coalition is a dedicated group of health and social service professionals committed to promoting whole child, whole school wellness. By inviting students to join, the coalition aims to ensure that the perspectives and needs of youth are represented in creating new objectives that will enhance school and community health initiatives.
“We believe that involving students in decision-making processes is essential for addressing their needs effectively,” said Darren Miller, school counselor. “Nathaniel, Madeline, and Blake’s selection is a tremendous step toward empowering youth and fostering their leadership skills.”
Selected student representatives will participate in various initiatives aimed at improving health and wellness in schools and communities. This opportunity allows students to gain valuable leadership experience and provides insight into public health, prevention, and healthcare systems — ideal for those considering a career in health-related fields. Additionally, this is a voluntary position where students can earn community service hours.
The CASH Coalition, founded in 1995, continues to champion the Coordinated School Health model as a foundation for student and community improvement.
