Rodman chess, tabletop gaming
ALLIANCE — Alliance area residents looking for wholesome family fun need not look any further than their local library.
Those bored with being stuck inside this winter are welcome to attend Tabletop Gaming and play some of their favorite board games with others.
The popular all-ages program is held monthly on a select Wednesday at the Main Library when a new game is featured. Of course, other games from the library’s collection – which can be borrowed with a valid RPL library card — will also be available for visitors to play and those attending are always welcome to bring their own games.
December’s Tabletop Gaming will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in the Main Auditorium and January’s program will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.
Those interested in playing chess should check out Rodman Chess Club, held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.
December’s session will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, while January’s program will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
The Rodman Chess Club is open to patrons of all ages who have an interest in exploring the ancient game of strategy. Although it is called a club, there is no formal membership. Several boards are set up in the Main Auditorium as players mingle to find opponents to play against. Players are welcome to come and go as they please.
No registration is needed to attend either Tabletop Gaming or Rodman Chess Club.
For information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.
