Lepper Library activities

LISBON — Upcoming Lepper Library activities include:

— Writers’ Group: Saturday at 2 p.m. Saturday. Fellow writers get together and discuss writing, publishing, and grammar. Brought in part by the OAC.

— December Craft – Carolina Snowflake: Dec. 12, choice of class times at 5 or 6 p.m. Brought in part by the OAC.

— Ukulele Classes by Gloria Siegfried: Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Gloria guides participants with learning to play the ukulele. The class uses flat reed to make this keepsake ornament that can be displayed all year round. Brought in part by the OAC.

— December Adult Take & Make-Holiday Spice Mix: Pick up a sample packet of this delightful spice blend which includes Cinnamon, All Spice, Cloves, Star Anise, Anise Seeds, Coriander Seeds, Cardamom, Ginger, and Nutmeg.

— Weekly Storytimes:

Moving and Grooving -Tuesdays at 10 a.m. This Storytime is geared toward babies and toddlers. Come sing some songs, listen to a story, and play.

Preschool Story Hour-Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Sing songs, listen to stories, and make crafts. Stay and play after the program.

— Winter Scavenger Hunt during December: Stop by the library to take part in the winter scavenger hunt and turn the completed sheet into the circulation desk to get a prize.

— Elf Workshop: Holiday Fun for Kids: Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Join the library for a magical Elf Workshop where children will get into the holiday spirit by creating festive cards, choosing, and wrapping a book to keep, listening to a delightful story, and decorating a delicious Christmas cookie. Registration is not required.

Mount holiday concerts

ALLIANCE — The University of Mount Union Concert Choir and Cantus will perform tonight and Saturday as part of the 2024 Winter Festival. The show, entitled “The Journey,” will be held in Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open 30 minutes before the show start time.

Local students participating in the event include: Katrina Asano of Alliance, Julia Bricker of Salem, Andrea Dager of Alliance, Anna Eversdyke of Alliance, Matthew Eversdyke of Alliance, Josiah Haas of Salem, Gabrielle Hill of Alliance, Marissa Maze of Alliance, Meyaunni McKay of Alliance, Alexandra Ritchie of Alliance, Ella Scofinsky of Beloit, Darian Sharp of Salem, Ricky Short of Salem, Sally Tausch of Salem, Gracie Weaver of Alliance, Jillian Zamarelli of Beloit, Julia Zamarelli of Beloit.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors/veterans and are available to order by visiting mountunion.edu/boxoffice, calling the Box Office at 330-821-2565 or ordering in-person at the Box Office, Monday-Friday; 2:30-4:30 p.m. when classes are in session. Mount Union students, faculty and staff can redeem their free tickets when ordering by using their purple plus card. All other students are free, but tickets must be ordered by calling the box office or visiting during normal business hours.

Salem Quaker Bells

Celebrate the season with live handbell music featuring the Salem Quaker Bells showcasing an array of festive classics and joyful carols at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Salem First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave. This concert is free to attend, and all are welcome.
