SARTA passes
Thanks to the initiative and hard work of longtime Alliance Community Pantry volunteer Cathy Henderson, many of the pantry’s clients who lack transportation will be able to take a bus to pick up their food at our pantry over the next few months. Henderson, who volunteers on Wednesdays as a screener, observed there were many clients who did not have consistent rides to the pantry so she decided to apply for a $750 matching grant offered by SARTA (Stark Area Regional Transit Authority). The $750 grant required a match, and after a little research Henderson found members of First United Presbyterian Church was a willing partner. Pastor Katie Watson, left, presents a $750 check to Henderson to complete the grant. As a result, the pantry now has 500 all-day SARTA bus passes to give to those in need. (Submitted photo)
