Easter egg hunt today

The Lisbon Ministerial Association will host an Easter egg hunt today at the Lisbon Assembly of God on state Route 517. The event will start at 2 p.m. rain of shine. Bring a bag or basket to put eggs in.

‘Gardening As You Age’

The Salem Area Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 9 at the Smucker House, 271 S. Broadway Ave. The program, “Gardening As You Age,” will be presented by Marge Greenisen, Ohio State University, Master Gardener. Anyone interested in gardening and all ages are welcome.

Hands Off! 2025 protest

Residents of Mahoning County will gather at the Courthouse, 120 Market St., Youngstown, from 3 to 6 p.m. today to participate in Hands Off! 2025, a national day of action. Community members will unite with Americans nationwide to deliver a message: We unite against powerful interests dismantling our democracy, gutting public resources, and undermining essential services–all to boost billionaire profits. Hands Off! is firmly committed to nonviolence. Participants are explicitly instructed to maintain peaceful interactions and de-escalate potential confrontations. NOAS Hats and Horses

NOAS is hosting Hats and Horses: Talk Derby to Me, an event designed to raise awareness and funds for these essential initiatives. Guests can look forward to a Derby-themed evening featuring a dinner, drinks, horse races, bourbon tasting, a barrel of cheer liquor raffle, and both live and silent auctions. The event will also include a lively derby hat contest and a celebrity jockey auction. The event will be held at Leo’s Ristorante, located at 7042 E. Market St., Warren, on Saturday, April 12. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will support NOAS’ mission to empower foster youth and families with the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

ESCEO job fair

The ESC of Eastern Ohio will host an , a networking event for educators and school professionals. The job fair will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on April 15 at 7320 N. Palmyra Road,, located behind the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center (MCCTC).

This event serves as a prime opportunity for recent and upcoming graduates, credentialed teachers, substitute teachers, classroom assistants, bus drivers, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, and other education professionals to connect directly with school district recruiters and administrators. Attendees will gain insights into current job openings and career pathways available throughout the region. Boardman Local School District, Canfield Local School District, Columbiana Exempted Village School District, East Palestine City Schools, ESC of Eastern Ohio, Jackson-Milton Local School District, Lowellville Local School District, Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments, Potential Development, Sebring Local School District, South Range Local School District, Springfield Local School District, Struthers City Schools, United Local School District, Warren City Schools, West Branch Local School District, Western Reserve Local School District, Youngstown City School District and Youngstown Community School. Journey to the Cross

The First Methodist Church of Salem, 244 S. Broadway Ave., will present a program depicting the true meaning of Easter. The program is Journey to the Cross. There will be six stations — each station representing a time in Jesus’ last days between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. At each station, children will receive an object, representing that time. This is a family friendly open house event. Crafts, snack and fun will be provided. The event is free and will be held on April 12 from 1 to 3 pm. All ages and denominations are welcome.

Self-defense at Rodman

The Friends of Rodman Public Library is offering patrons 12 years and older the opportunity to raise their awareness of self-defense while helping raise funds for RPL. On April 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wayne Burley of Tri-County Martial Arts will give a two-hour self-defense and awareness seminar inside the Rodman Auditorium. The cost is $20 per person. Burley, an area native with more than 40 years of experience in defensive tactics instruction, is a seventh-degree black belt and master level instructor in martial arts. During the seminar at Rodman Library, Burley will discuss the following: Who are the Three Type of Bad Guys, What does AAA Mean, Importance of Using Your Voice, Understanding Criminal Intent, S.A.E. It- How it Works, Threat Recognition, Physical Skills and Techniques that Actually Work. Registration is required to attend the seminar. SRMC mammograms

Walk-in screening mammograms will be available at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC), Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning April 7. No appointments are needed, which means that patients can walk-in for a screening mammogram during these hours with little to no waiting. No doctor’s order is required for a walk-in examination. Walk-ins should go directly to SRMC’s Medical Imaging department on the ground floor to check-in for their mammogram upon arrival at the hospital. Exam results will be sent to the patient’s primary care provider. If a patient does not have a provider, an SRMC Medical Group physician will review the results and contact the patient for follow-up care, if needed. In addition to offering walk-in screening mammograms, patients can also schedule a mammogram at SRMC by calling 330-332-7300.
