NLPC Bright Sunday

The New Lisbon Presbyterian Church (NLPC), 111 E. Chestnut St., Lisbon, will observe Bright Sunday, or Holy Humor Sunday, during its morning worship April 27. The Bright Sunday service begins at 10:30 a.m. and is open to the public. The custom of Bright Sunday came from the early church theologians who felt that God had played a practical joke on the devil by raising Jesus from the dead. So the week after Easter, Christians observed “days of joy and laughter.” “This is the first time, to our knowledge, that our church has conducted a Bright Sunday service, and we’re planning a service of laughter, jokes and a whole lot of fun,” said Susan Crowell, of the NLPC Worship Team. “We are not being irreverent; we’re simply expressing the joy of the miracle of resurrection and Easter Sunday. It is the Good News of our faith, after all.” For information, call NLPC at 330-424-5107 or email newlisbonpc@gmail.com. The service will also be livestreamed via Facebook and on the NLPC YouTube channel, tinyurl.com/NLPC3.

Starting at $2.99/week.
