Adult exercise class
Starting May 6, the New Waterford Methodist Church will be hosting a senior exercise class every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. The class is open to the public and by donation only.
Art therapy workshop
The East Palestine Resiliency Center has partnered with the HELMS Foundation, a local provider of art therapy services to hold a four-week adult art workshop. The workshop will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on May 5, May 12, May 19 and June 2. The workshop will explore new art media and techniques each week. To register, call 330-718-8260.
Lisbon Farmers Market
Lisbon’s Farmers Market starts another season this Saturday. For sellers, there is no set up fee and spots are on a first-come, first-served basis. Products must be homemade or homegrown. The market hours remain 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
ESCEO art show
The Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio will present the 37th Annual High School Art Show, a showcase of student creativity and artistic achievement. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Joyce Brooks Center at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC), located at 7300 N. Palmyra Road in Canfield. This free, public exhibition will feature more than 250 works of art created by students from over 20 school districts across Mahoning and Columbiana counties. From detailed drawings and expressive paintings to innovative sculptures and mixed media, the show offers a vibrant glimpse into the creative minds of our region’s young artists. Community members, families, educators, and art lovers are encouraged to attend and celebrate the remarkable talent on display. Mount Union concert
The University of Mount Union Concert Choir, Cantus, Kantorei, and Voce Bassa, under the direction of Beth Polen, will present a spring concert entitled, Awakening on Sunday. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Brush Performance Hall of the Giese Center for the Performing Arts. The concert features works by Monteverdi, MacMillan, J.S. Bach, Joseph Martin, among others. SICCO cycling tour
Bicyclists from across the region will gather in Columbiana on May 4 to celebrate spring by participating in a 30-year touring tradition. The annual tour, known as Spring in Columbiana County, Ohio, (SICCO), originated in 1995. It is sponsored by the Out-Spokin’ Wheelmen bicycling club. The event, in which all cyclists are invited to ride, will begin at 8 a.m. in Firestone Park, 347 E. Park Ave., Columbiana. The main cycling route is a flat-to-rolling 35-mile loop through small towns and scenic countryside, which includes the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail. Participants will ride at their own paces between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., with support vehicles available for riders needing assistance. SICCO will be held rain or shine. A snack stop will be at the rail station in historic downtown Lisbon. After completing the 35-mile loop, riders will receive a Pizza Hut lunch. Participants can then opt to ride an additional 28-mile loop to achieve a total of 63 miles. The fee is $30 for advance registration or $35 on the day of the event. The ride fee includes the snack and lunch. Helmets must be worn. Riders may register online at outspokinwheelmen.com or in person from 8 to 10 a.m. May 4 at Firestone Park. Mom’s Health Matters seminar
SALEM — Area women of all ages are invited to attend a free seminar on Tuesday, May 13, to learn about important health strategies to help moms, and all women, stay healthy throughout their life stages.
The “Mom’s Health Matters” seminar will be hosted by Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and feature SRMC-affiliated physicians, who will discuss health topics of special interest to mothers and those who love them. The event will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 6690 Ironwood Blvd. in Canfield.
Kicking off the event from 6 to 6:30 p.m., participants will have an opportunity to view displays and enjoy light refreshments.
At 6:30 p.m., Joseph Miladore, M.D., Family Medicine, will discuss “Taking Steps to a Healthier You,” focusing on health and wellness through healthy habits and screenings. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Linda Camp, M.D., will then discuss “Breast Cancer Basics” and ways to enhance a woman’s appearance and well-being. Psychiatrist Christopher Seman, D.O., will give a presentation on “The Rewards and Challenges of Motherhood Today” to conclude the evening.
Seminar participants will be eligible for a drawing for a free facial, compliments of SRMC Plastic Surgery, and a basket raffle. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
