SR 170 closure rescheduled

The closure of state Route 170 from Heck Road to Dickson Road has been rescheduled to start July 7. The closure for a culvert replacement was originally scheduled to start June 23. The road will be closed for 21 days. The official posted detour is state Route 14 north to state Route 165 north, state Route 165 north to state Route 617 east, state Route 617 east back to state Route 170, and reverse.

Leetonia HS ’56 60-year reunion

The Leetonia High School Class of 1965 will hold its 60-year reunion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26 at the VFW Post 5532, 575 County Road, Washingtonville, during the fourth annual Marty Orr Car Show.

Help needed

at pollinator garden in Lisbon

Lisbon’s pollinator garden at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds is in full bloom but there’s still a lot to do. A work day to help care for the garden is set for Thursday. Work starts at 9 a.m. Volunteers are asked to bring tools, gloves, water and sunblock. The garden was put in three years ago by the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with OSU’s Extension Office. It was made possible by a $3,500 grant from the Columbiana County Land Bank.

Monday, June 30: Minerva Public Library, Community Nutrition Lesson Series presented by the OSU Carroll County Extension Service at 11 a.m. This is a six-week free course that will run on Mondays beginning at 11 a.m. from June 30 through Aug. 4. Join the fun nutrition lessons and chat about healthy eating, dive into the five food groups, and share new recipes. Feel free to attend even if not able to make it to all six sessions. Monday, June 30: Minerva Public Library, Fairmount Children’s Home Presentation at 5:30 p.m. Presented by Carolyn Caskey this program is free to the public. Monday, July 7: Minerva Public Library, Wits Workout at 5:30 p.m. Presented by the OSU Carroll County Extension Service, this program is great for folks who love word puzzles and logic games, or anyone looking to build some brain-boosting habits. Studies show that challenging one’s mind and staying socially connected can really help keep the brain healthy over the years. Concert, helmet give-away set

The next Lisbon Concert on the Square is Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. Lisbon favorite Pure Gold will be performing. Thanks to donations from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lisbon Eagles 2216 and Ryan Suhanyi, the Johnny Appleseed Royal Court will be distributing free bicycle helmets during the concert. The Royal Court will be available to decorate the helmets with the children. In addition, they will be selling hot dogs and soft drinks. Concert-goers are asked to bring lawn chairs.
