Health district skin cancer screenings

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health District will offer two additional skin cancer screening clinics. Both clinics will take place on Wednesdays — July 16 and Aug. 20 — at the Health District office, 7360 state Route 45, Lisbon. Appointments are required; walk-ins will not be accepted. To schedule an appointment for the skin cancer screening clinic, call 330-424-0272 ext. 114.

There will be no charge for residents within the General Health District to receive skin cancer screenings. However, residents from Salem and East Liverpool cities, as well as those from outside Columbiana County, will be charged $5, payable in cash.

Skin cancer remains the most common type of cancer, with one in five Americans developing it in their lifetime. Early detection is key, as most skin cancers can be treated effectively when caught early. We encourage residents to attend if they have suspicious lesions, such as: a sore that does not heal, a mole or wart that has changed, changes in color pigmentation of the skin or any other skin abnormalities.

MCCTC upcoming info sessions

CANFIELD — The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) Adult Career Center will host upcoming Information Sessions designed for individuals interested in fall career training programs, financial aid, and the enrollment process. The sessions are free and open to the public. Participants will learn how to apply, tour the MCCTC Adult Career Center, and meet with staff who can guide them through program selection and financial aid options. Attendees should take note that the entrance exam, a requirement for enrollment, will be offered immediately following the session. Those unable to stay for the exam may schedule it for a later date.

“This session is ideal for anyone considering attending classes in the fall,” said Jodi Glass, student recruiter. “We’ll walk potential students through each step of the process and answer any questions to help them get started.”
