LISBON — Residents are reminded the 2026 Columbiana County dog licenses are officially on sale effective Dec. 1. Applications were mailed Nov. 3. One-year license is $12, three-year license is $36 and permanent is $120. Dog owners must purchase the license by Jan. 31 to avoid a $12 penalty. For those who previously mailed in their applications, their 2026 dog licenses will be mailed out on or about Dec. 1. Allow extra time for post office delivery during the holidays. Keep in mind that multi-year licenses for any dogs that have the year 2026 on the license or later, they will not be listed on the applications and do not need renewed.

The preferred method of purchasing 2026 dog licenses is by mail or online at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Columbiana. Make sure to be on the correct website when purchasing dog licenses. It should clearly state it is the Columbiana County Auditor’s website with a picture of auditor Nancy Milliken on the homepage. Fraudulent sites have been reported. A convenience fee will be assessed for all electronic transactions.

Residents will be able to buy licenses in person at the auditor’s office, the dog pound or at a satellite provider. Permanent and three-year licenses can be bought online, by mail or at the auditor’s office only. Check the auditor’s website for satellite locations and their available hours; or call the auditor’s office at the number above. These satellite providers only sell licenses from Dec. 1 through Jan. 31. They can accept cash, check or money orders only. Make checks payable to the Columbiana County Auditor. Payment at satellite locations will be $12.75 per license.

Those who received a pre-printed application in the mail should mail the bottom of the application with payment or bring it if coming in person. Without a completed application, identification showing one’s name and current address will be required in order to buy dog licenses. The auditor’s office and the dog pound will be accepting Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards, in addition to cash, checks and money orders. If paying with cash, bring exact amount.
