Mount Union students present plans at social studies conference
ALLIANCE — Several University of Mount Union education students presented their original lesson plans at the Ohio Council for the Social Studies (OCSS) annual conference in early October. They shared a presentation titled Their lesson plans, created for fourth graders at Alliance Intermediate School, incorporated Native American sign language, role-playing, and augmented reality technology to enhance cultural learning. The students’ work demonstrated the School of Education’s emphasis on practical classroom experience, innovative teaching strategies, and professional development. Mount Union faculty support students through individualized advising, licensure preparation and field-based learning opportunities. Local participating students who presented a lesson plan included Andrea Dager of Alliance, Ashlin Morris of East Liverpool and Jillian Zamarelli of Beloit.
