Bridge closure

The historic bow string truss arch bridge located at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds is closed to all pedestrians for construction for approximately four to six weeks. Pedestrians will not be able to access of leave the fairgrounds across the bridge.

Salem band fruit

The 2025-26 “Pride of Salem” Marching Band annual fruit sale delivery is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4 in the high school auditorium lobby area. Students will begin delivering individual orders following the completion of classes at 2:45 p.m. Those electing for public pickup of orders may contact Band Director Hannah McFarland’s office at 330-332-8905 Ext. 58355 prior to noon to schedule an afternoon pickup time on the day of delivery. Due to the band participating in the Salem Christmas parade Thursday evening, all pickup hours will run from 12:30 to 4 p.m. curbside along F.E. Cope Drive (high school auditorium parking lot entrance). Any questions pertaining to public pickup or additional information and assistance may be directed to Fruit Sale Coordinator Gregg Warner at 330-261-5413. Volunteers will be on site throughout the day for assistance with orders and loading into vehicles.

LPPAC Batch of Toys

Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center is celebrating the Holiday Season with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Dec. 5-21, all performances sold-out) and The Nutcracker (Dec. 12-14 & 19-21, tickets starting at $18 still available). Lincoln Park invites all patrons planning to attend one of these shows to bring a new unwrapped toy to contribute to the annual Batch A Toys holiday drive, hosted by the Best of the Batch Foundation. Founded in 1999 by former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Charlie Batch, Best of the Batch Foundation provides more than a dozen programs serving school-aged children and their families across nine counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Donations for children of all ages are welcome, with a special need for gifts for ages 10-18.

‘Grinch’ screening

Minerva’s Roxy Theatre will present the live-action “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” starring Jim Carrey on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with the film starting at 7 p.m. Stick around after the movie to take a picture with the Grinch. The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect and patrons may purchase beverages in official DORA cups from the Normandy Inn, Stoney Inn, Que Pasa Mexican Restaurant, and Sandy Springs Brewing Company and carry them throughout the designated area, including into the Roxy.
