Crestview FY 2025 Unaudited Financial Statements complete and available for public viewing

The Crestview Local School District Board of Education has completed the Fiscal Year 2025 Unaudited Financial Statements according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principals and filed them with the Auditor of State. These reports are available for public viewing at the board offices, 44100 Crestview Road, Columbiana, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Salem First Presbyterian Church to present Advent Cantata ‘Fantasia Noel’ on Sunday

First Presbyterian Church of Salem will present the Advent Cantata “Fantasia Noel” as part of 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. This contemporary Cantata will feature traditional carols, along with new settings of familiar carols. In addition to the Haviland Choir, and friends, there will be a chamber ensemble of flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpets, horn, trombones, tuba, electric bass, percussion and piano. Reverend Annie Parker will lead the service. Jan Cox and Kara Craig will provide several musical selections before, during and after the service. John Krauss is Director of Music. This service is made possible by generous donations to the Music Fund at First Presbyterian Church.

OSU Extension-Mahoning to host maple syrup program

Community members interested in producing their own maple syrup at home are invited to attend the upcoming Backyard Maple Syrup Production Workshop hosted by OSU Extension Mahoning County. This hands-on class will be held Thursday, Jan. 15 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the OSU Extension office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

Designed for beginners and hobbyists, this workshop will guide participants through the complete process of small-scale maple syrup production. The event will feature both indoor instruction and outdoor demonstrations, providing participants with practical experience to confidently produce syrup at home. The registration fee is $20 per person, which includes supplies and all instructional handouts.

Participants will learn: when, where, and how to tap maple trees; proper sap handling and boiling techniques; safe finishing and packaging; and Maple tree care and management. Each participant receives 2 taps with tubing included.

CANFIELD – U.S. News and World Report has awarded South Range elementary and middle schools with the publications “Best Schools” designation.

Columbiana South Side MS ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Ohio list

The Columbiana South Side Middle School on being ranked 58 out of 975 Middle Schools in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Ohio rankings. With a reading performance above expectations (state rank of 102) and math performance well above expectations (state rank of 42), the middle school topped Columbiana County with an overall score of 94.5/100. In 2024, The U.S. Department of Education named Columbiana South Side Middle School as one of 14 National Blue Ribbon Schools in Ohio.
