POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— An officer at 11:17 p.m. Monday spoke with an intoxicated male who came to the police station requesting a ride home to the 1200 block of Depot Road. The officer made contact with the male’s father, who resides at the same address and responded to pick him up.

— Police responded to East Pershing Street near Union Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Monday for a male on a motorized wheelchair after a caller reported he was riding in the middle of the road. When police arrived, he was riding on the side of the road with flashing lights. He was reminded to be cautious in traffic.

— Jeremy Crihfield, 31, of 443 Continental Drive, was taken into custody at his residence at 9:04 p.m. Monday on a warrant out of Columbiana County for assault. He was processed and turned over to a deputy who transported him to the county jail.

— Police were called at 8:52 p.m. Monday to the 2200 block of Edgewood for a security check of a residence. No issues were found.

— An unruly juvenile was reported at 8:23 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Rose Avenue. The parents were told the process to file unruly charges in juvenile court. Officers spoke with the juvenile and advised the juvenile officer would be made aware of the situation.

— A caller Monday evening reported a vehicle drove through the road closed sign at the intersection of Lincoln and East State Street. Police set the barrier back up. No damage or vehicle was observed.

— An interior motion alarm was reported at 5:14 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of East State Street. The exterior was locked and appeared secure. The keyholder advised a dog was inside and possibly set off the alarm.

— Richard McLaughlin, 73, of Homewood Avenue, was cited for pedestrian in the crosswalk after police tracked him down following a report at 3:59 p.m. Monday of a pedestrian getting struck by a vehicle at the corner of Woodland Avenue and East State Street. Police, fire department first responders and EMT ambulance all responded to the scene where the pedestrian who was struck declined medical treatment for minor injuries. According to the pedestrian and other witnesses, the pedestrian was crossing Woodland Avenue traveling west on East State Street when a vehicle made a left turn from East State Street onto Woodland, striking him in the calf. Witnesses said the male driver got out of his car and spoke momentarily with the pedestrian and then got in his car and drove off. Witnesses provided the license plate.

— A protection order violation was reported at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Southeast Boulevard. The female who called said a person who her daughter has a protection order against said he was going to come there to gather his belongings. The daughter was not there. The woman was told to contact police if the daughter is home and the male shows up at the residence.

— Police responded to the area of East Pershing Street and South Union Avenue at 1:31 p.m. Monday for possible damage to a road sign. Officers determined the stop sign located on the southwest side of Pershing and Union had been struck by workers fixing an electrical pole. The sign just needed stuck back in there, with no damage to the sign.

— Police were called at 10:56 a.m. Monday to the alley behind the 200 block of East State Street for debris, with officers finding a brick in the road that fell from one of the surrounding buildings. The fire department was contacted to check the building. Officers spoke with a business owner who had some concerns about garbage around a dumpster in the area. Zoning was also contacted so they could respond, too. Fire officials said there had been a concern about a building on South Broadway that also is located on the alley and had a problem before with falling debris. Fire Chief Scott Mason said the owner was working with a structural engineer on repairs that may need made. The alley is open.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

— Police responded at 5:37 p.m. Monday to Salem Acres on Prospect Street after receiving a complaint about a suspicious person near an apartment. The caller reported speaking to a neighbor who said they saw a male shaking their door handle and looking in the windows, then a blue Pontiac left the area.

— A woman in the 800 block of West Pidgeon Road reported at 4:38 p.m. Monday that there were unauthorized charges on her bank account from AT&T for cell phone activation fees for $129. She’s been in contact with the company which was refusing to reimburse her for the unauthorized charges. She said she’s now taking legal action against the company with the new total coming to $188 which includes the civil filing fee.

— A woman in the 200 block of Plymouth Place reported at 4:29 p.m. Monday that she was receiving harassing mail. On two occasions over the past several months, she said she received mail from an unknown sender with obscene pictures inside. She was provided options of other outside agencies to contact for possible assistance.

— A landlord/tenant dispute was reported at 1:40 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Brittany Lane. The landlord said the tenant has been trashing the residence they share. Both parties were told they need to contact their lawyers since it’s a civil matter. The tenant advised he would be out within the next 36 hours.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

— Serena M. Telles, 47, Niles, was arrested at a business in the 15000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 on an active felony warrant out of the Alliance Police Department and turned over to Alliance police.

— Walter E. Pogorzelski, 67, Akron, was cited of OVI after an officer responded to a reckless driver report in the area of state Route 14 and Middletown Road and found him in the suspected vehicle parked at business in the area.

— Christopher Paul Wilke, 25, West Pine Lake Road, was cited for driving under suspension and left of center following a traffic stop on state Route 534 near Garfield Road at 8:56 a.m. Tuesday.

LEETONIA

— Jenny L. Isaacs, 46, Leetonia, was cited for OVI, OVI refusal, driving under suspension, loud exhaust and left of center following a traffic stop at 1:22 a.m. Saturday at Chestnut and Wood streets.

— An officer responded to an East Main Street home at 7:06 p.m. Saturday where a known male individual was sitting next to another officer’s residence, with only the officer’s wife and child at home. The responding officer spoke the man who said that he was just waiting for a friend to arrive and then was going to take the friend to his vehicle in Washingtonville. The officer who was not home was advised of the situation.

— An officer responded to the water department at 2:10 a.m. Sunday in reference to an alarm drop, but found the perimeter secure. The officer stood by until the key holder arrived and reset the alarm.

— Two residents waved down a patrolling officer in the 10 block Washington Street at 10:37 a.m. Sunday to report an unidentified person had thrown a cinder block through their bedroom window.

Lisbon

— A woman contacted police after reading about a man in town who claimed some of his Xanax was missing. The woman said she was present while the man cut some of his pills in half. When she asked what he was doing, the man told her that he sells his Xanax for $3 a pill, and he then left with all of his medication.

— Megan R. Hansen, 32 Grandview Street, called at 12:52 p.m. Sept. 15 after a motorist almost struck her family while crossing on East Chestnut Street, and one person reported being grazed by the bumper. The family managed to stop the driver, who was identified as Toni M. Possage, 48, of Pittsburgh. Possage denied coming close to hitting them, and when they stopped her a woman banged on her window and threatened to punch her in the face.

— Trucker Bryan J. Haycraft of Thornton, Colo., struck a light pole at the corner of Lincoln Way and Market Street at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, breaking the pole base. The cost of the base is $1,300, and Haycraft wrote a check on the spot to the village.

— Tina Cross-Taylor, North Beaver Street, reported Sept. 19 being assaulted by her husband, who allegedly threw her around the bedroom by her hair, punched her in the face and stomped on her ankle. She said her husband was upset because of his brother’s death and that he should probably go back on his medication. Daniel Taylor, 50, was charged with domestic violence.

— Carly Williams reported Friday being harassed and threatened by two people she knows, and they even followed her home. Williams said her landlord, Richard Parrish, saw them pulling away from outside her apartment.

— A clerk at the Dollar General reported Brian Knight was there on Saturday despite being told he was no longer welcome there based on prior incidents. After checking their records, Knight, 47, Rose Drive apartments, was charged with trespassing by police.

Columbiana

— A man, name not listed, reported at 4:16 p.m. Sunday a threat was made against his son and two other middle school students at the Columbiana Middle School on Friday.

— Police checked on a warrant for the county sheriff’s office at 8:14 p.m. Sunday for the arrest of Erin Atkinson, 38, who was arrested by the sheriff’s office at 8:27 p.m.
