POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— Police responded at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a suspicious person. Members of the hospital staff said a male checked himself in with a suspicious story and they wanted police to respond. The man told officers that while moving a coffee table, it shattered and cut him. The incident took place in Damascus.

— Loud music was reported at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of East State Street where two males were located in the Burger King parking lot. They were told to keep the music down.

— An officer on patrol at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday in the area of North Union Avenue near East Third Street noticed a vehicle with a loud exhaust fail to use a turn signal and initiated a traffic stop. Officers were given consent to search the vehicle with nothing illegal found. The driver was issued a warning for the traffic violation.

— An officer on patrol in Centennial Park at 10 p.m. Tuesday heard a loud person in the 1300 block of East Pershing Street and located someone, finding no criminal activity. The person was dealing with animal issues.

— Lonnie A. Wilson, 30, whose last known address was 421 Aetna St., was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant out of Minerva for petty theft after showing up at the police station to turn himself in at 7:31 p.m. Tuesday. He was transported to a site outside the city and turned over to a Minerva police officer.

— Police initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Quaker Village in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. K-9 Simon indicated to the odor of narcotics. A search was conducted, but nothing illegal was located. The driver was given a verbal warning for the moving violation.

— An anonymous caller at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday requested a well-being check at a residence in the 200 block of East Fifth Street where there’s no power and there are three children living there. Officers spoke with the resident who advised the children were at the library and she was making arrangements for them to stay with relatives for the evening due to the utilities being turned off earlier in the day.

— Police were called to respond to Reilly School at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday for a complaint of a suspicious male carrying beer who walked up and asked for money in the parking lot. Officers made contact with the male, who was carrying alcohol but all the containers were sealed. He was told to head home for the evening.

— A caller at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday reported a truck parked on the side of the road in the 1800 block of East Third Street, making it difficult for cars to travel past. Officers saw the truck parked illegally and made contact with the driver, who said he was doing yard work and was preparing to leave.

— Police responded with a city housing inspector at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday to the 900 block of Fair Avenue to tow two vehicles from the rear of a residence.

— A parking complaint was reported at 2:44 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of North Madison Avenue. The mother of the vehicle owner was contacted and advised about the complaint and told cars can’t sit longer than 48 hours without being moved.

— A suspicious person/vehicle was reported at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The vehicle was located traveling in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street but no suspicious activity was observed.

— Tabitha Townsend, 35, of South Lincoln Avenue, was cited for improper backing and license forfeiture suspension after her northbound vehicle backed into another northbound vehicle on Southeast Boulevard at East State Street at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday. The other vehicle, which sustained minor damage, was driven by Richelle Ameduri, 43, of East Fifth Street.

— A malfunctioning traffic light was reported at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday at South Lincoln and East Pershing, but police found the signal functioning properly.

— A suspicious person was reported at 11:34 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Benton Road, but was not found.

— Police responded at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday to a facility in the 2500 block of Bentley Road for a reported theft, speaking with both the victim and the staff of the facility. Due to the nature of the incident, it will be turned over to a detective.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

–Loud music was reported at 9:06 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Plymouth Place. The resident was contacted and turned the music down for the night.

— An officer at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Circle K West on West State Street on a Jeep with no visible registration. The vehicle was first seen northbound on Georgetown Road by an off-duty officer. The driver, of Austintown, said he had just purchased the Jeep from a friend on Georgetown Road and had his girlfriend following him trying to get the Jeep back home. He thought he could drive it home since he just bought it. He was given a warning and told that since the title was not notarized that he could put his friend’s plates on the vehicle to get it home.

— A woman from the Salem City Schools bus garage called at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday requesting a welfare check at Salem Acres on Prospect Street after a parent had not picked up their child from the bus. Police made contact with the mother of the child, who said she was unable to leave her infant child in the apartment to pick up the other child at the bus stop. The child was transported to the apartment and she was advised to make arrangements with the bus garage so an incident like this doesn’t happen in the future.

— A reckless operator was reported in the area of U.S. Route 62 (the four-lane bypass) in a white truck with no tailgate. The vehicle was not found.

— Possible prowlers were reported at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of West Perry Street where a resident said it sounded like someone was outside their residence. Police were unable to locate anyone.

— A caller from the 2200 block of Allen Road reported a suspicious vehicle sitting at the deadend. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.

LEETONIA

— An officer responded to the Oakdale Cemetery at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an unidentified vehicle driving at the rear of the property after hours. The driver said he was visiting his father’s grave and agreed to restrict his visits to regular hours. The officer checked the cemetery and found nothing out of the ordinary.

— An officer responded to the 200 block of Front Street at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday where an employee of a nearby business reported she was leaving after work when a woman had kicked her car door and punched the window. The employee said she did not wish to press charges.

NEW WATERFORD

— Officers responded to the village park at 12:10 p.m. Sept. 17 in reference to vandalism at the gazebo. Video footage showed two juvenile suspects.

— An East Main Street resident reported at 3:44 p.m. Sept. 18 an incident involving drug abuse.

— An officer responded to the area of North State Street at 6:49 p.m. Sept. 21 in reference to a tree that fallen across the roadway. The officer provided traffic control until the tree was removed.

— Officers responded to the 3700 block of East Main Street at 11:56 p.m. Saturday in reference to a suspicious persons/vehicles complaint, but found nothing suspicious in the area.

— Robert L. Porada Jr., 43, Pinewood Dr., New Waterford, was arrested at his home at 12:06 p.m. Sunday on an active warrant out of Mahoning County and was turned over to the Lake Milton Police Department.

— Officers responded to an Allendale Avenue home at 9:37 p.m. Sunday in reference to a suicidal female with a gun. Officers were unable to find the woman, but she was found a few hours later by Columbiana police.

— Officers responded to a Pinewood Drive apartment complex at 6:54 p.m. Monday in reference to a possible verbal dispute and determined it to be an argument between a mother and her juvenile son. Everything was found to be fine.

— Officers responded to the New Water Eagles Club on Creek Road at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday in reference to an alarm drop and found that it had been caused by a power outage.

— Officers responded to the 3000 block of Creek Road at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a dog running at large that had bitten a resident. The case is under investigation.

— An officer responded to a vacant home in the 46000 block of North State Street at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a suspicious persons/vehicle complaint. The persons/vehicle in question left prior to the officer’s arrival.
