SALEM

— Police responded at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday to Penn Avenue to check on a possibly intoxicated male last seen walking on East State Street. Officers located the male and assisted him with a ride home.

— Police were called at 10:37 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of Aetna Street for a stolen vehicle report from a man who was calling for his girlfriend. He said her 2013 Dodge was stolen out of her garage sometime since 10 a.m. Officers responded to her place of employment to sign a stolen vehicle form. Upon further investigation with the owner, it was found that she forgot she left the vehicle at her boyfriend’s residence in Washingtonville. He confirmed the vehicle was in Washingtonville and was not stolen.

— A caller at 8 p.m. Tuesday reported a suspicious person on East Pershing Street pulling on car door handles. No one was found.

— Manuel Ramon Lopez Martinez, 36, of Youngstown, was cited for no license and given a warning for two headlights required after a traffic stop in the 700 block of East Third Street at 7:33 p.m. Tuesday for an equipment violation. The officer learned the driver did not possess a driver’s license but only had an identification card from Pennsylvania. Due to a language barrier, a translator was requested to the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

— Terry Miller, 57, of Whinnery Road, Hanoverton, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Per the registrar, the license plates were confiscated and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

— Police were called at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday to the Walmart parking lot for a complaint about a black truck with a trailer blocking a handicap space. An officer arrived and saw the customer was using the handicap space to unload a motorized wheelchair.

— A woman in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue reported at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday that a medium-sized brown dog was at large and ran through her yard. The dog was not found.

— A 911 hangup call was reported at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. Police found no signs of anything wrong nor did anyone say they called.

— An abandoned vehicle was reported at Stadium GM, 292 W. State St., at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle had reportedly been parked there for over a month without authorization. The business was told they could have the vehicle towed since it was on private property.

— A reckless operator was reported at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday in the area of East State Street and Cunningham Road, but was not found.

— A woman turned in a wallet at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday that was found in her yard in the 1900 block of Cunningham Road and was run over by a mower. Perry Township police were asked to retrieve the wallet from Salem police since it was found in the township and belonged to a township residence.

— Betty McKinney, 71, of New Springfield, was cited for failure to yield after her westbound vehicle on Aetna Street failed to yield from the stop sign at South Lincoln and struck a southbound vehicle on South Lincoln driven by Gary Guido, 66, of Lisbon, at 2:49 p.m. Tuesday. Guido was taken by KLG to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— A possible sick raccoon was reported at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday on South Lundy near Cedar Street. The animal was located and the humane officer was contacted and was able to secure the raccoon and remove it from the area.

— A dog was reported at large at 11:07 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of South Union Avenue where the caller caught the dog and it was returned to the owner next door. An officer told the owner to keep the dog chained up when outside.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported parked on the street on Orchard Bend Drive at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday. Contact was made with a nearby resident who said the vehicle belonged to a family member who was coming to get it. The vehicle was legally parked and no problem was observed.

— No citation was listed on a report for a collision at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street when William J. Foreman, 78, of North Lincoln Avenue, was northbound on Lincoln and a vehicle driven by Alexandra Prychodczenko, 78, of Stewart Road, was eastbound on Third.

— A reckless operator was reported in a black Jeep at 6:02 a.m. Tuesday at South Lincoln and East Euclid. The vehicle was located a local business and all appeared fine.

SALEM TWP.

— A Leetonia Road, Leetonia, woman reported at 2:06 p.m. Tuesday she contracted with Energy Wise to do work at her house. During the past several months, workers have done some work, but it has not been done to their satisfaction and other work is still not completed. Then on Tuesday, she learned the company had gone out of business. She has contacted the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, as well as the finance company she used to finance the work.
