SALEM FIRE
— Firefighters received a call at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday for a residential fire alarm in the 1500 block of East Third Street. Upon arrival, they found a light haze of smoke inside a residence through the front door. The firefighters went around to the rear of the residence and found the homeowner, who said he left dinner on the stove and it was smoking. The homeowner had removed the pot to the back deck and turned the burner off. Once the hazard was removed, the fire department used ventilation to remove the smoke and odor from the home.
