SALEM

— A woman in the 200 block of Vine Avenue reported at 11:59 p.m. Sunday that she became scared after her ex-boyfriend contacted her two to three hours earlier, asking her to make him a corned beef sandwich. She was scared that he was going to come over to her apartment and he was not welcome. She asked for extra patrols. Officers told her the procedure for filing a protection order.

— Police responded to the 100 block of West State Street for a report at 11:46 p.m. Sunday of a vehicle having fictitious plates. The driver said he just bought the vehicle and was using his old vehicle’s plates until he could get to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to transfer the plates. The driver showed all the necessary paperwork for the vehicle and an officer advised him of the 45-day period to get license plates transferred to a new vehicle.

— Karina Beiler, 26, of Central, S.C., was charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony, and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called at 9:27 p.m. Sunday to the 100 block of West Eighth Street for a theft report. The victim advised a family member had stolen a credit card and made unauthorized charges on it and the suspect admitted to taking the card without permission. The victim wanted to pursue a theft charge and the suspect was taken into custody.

— A verbal dispute was reported at 8:27 p.m. Sunday in the Walmart parking lot where people involved said they had a verbal altercation, but nothing physical occurred. They were told to keep their argument under control and not a cause a disturbance in the parking lot.

— Police were called at 8:05 p.m. Sunday to East Fifth Street and East School Street for a parking complaint about a vehicle parked too close to the intersection. The owner was asked to move the vehicle.

— A caller at 6:31 p.m. Sunday reported several people appeared to be intoxicated walking down the sidewalk in the 200 block of West State Street. Contact was made with the people at East State and Lincoln and one male appeared slightly intoxicated and the others appeared fine. They were told to keep the noise down and not cause a disturbance. Two of them said they would make sure the slightly intoxicated male made it home safely. He was given a warning for public intoxication.

— Police and fire department first responders were called at 6:13 p.m. Sunday to the 1600 block of East State Street for a female who had taken an unknown amount of medication and made comments about harming herself. She was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

— A resident in the 700 block of Summit reported at 5:54 p.m. Sunday that their neighbor’s dog was in their front yard without a leash. The dog was back inside when police arrived. The owner was advised of the city ordinance.

— Officers responded at 5:08 p.m. Sunday to Reilly Stadium for a report of several juveniles playing with track equipment. They were told to stay off of the equipment.

— A woman on North Broadway reported at 4:20 p.m. Sunday that someone she did not know was sending her upsetting messages through social media. The social media account appeared to be fake and she was told to block contact with the person.

— A man reported at 2:18 p.m. Sunday that his loaner vehicle from Sarchione Ford was legally parked facing north in the lot in the 500 block of East Pershing Street when it was struck by an unknown vehicle.

— Police were called at 2 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of East Sixth Street for an assault. A man said he had been visiting his ex-fiancee and his children when he was asked to leave. He said he got into a physical altercation with his ex-fiancee’s grandfather. Police responded to West Seventh Street to speak with the other people involved. The grandfather said the man had been told to leave and refused, then they got into a physical altercation before the man left. Statements will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

— A distraught person was reported at 10:40 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of East State Street, but was not found.

— An assault between two juveniles was reported at 6:11 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East State Street, with an investigation pending.

— An audible alarm was reported at a closed business in the 2700 block of East State Street at 6:10 a.m. Sunday. The exterior was secure.

PERRY TWP.

— While enroute back to the township from Lisbon on state Route 45, a township cruiser struck a raccoon, causing damage to the driver side front bumper at 1:24 a.m. Monday.

— Police were called at 7:38 p.m. Sunday to the 1600 block of Goshen Road for a complaint about a raccoon in the front yard of a property, walking in the roadway. Police dispatched the raccoon.

— Police responded to Circle K South, 1827 S. Lincoln Ave., after receiving a call at 6:13 p.m. Sunday regarding a custody issue. A man said the mother of his child, whom he has full custody over, was refusing to let him have his child. She released the child before police arrived. He wanted the situation documented.

— Police were called at 2:29 p.m. Sunday to Visiting Angels, in the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road, for an alarm drop. The landlord told police he was there to inspect the building.

— Police were called at 10:47 a.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of East 12th Street for an elderly male who fell and hit his head. Police stood by until the male was transported by KLG to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— A concerned motorist contacted police at 9:10 p.m. Friday for a reckless driver on State Street westbound from the U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 bypass. The vehicle was not found, then later dispatch advised that Salem police conducted a traffic stop on state Route 344 at the intersection of Cunningham Road. The vehicle had been weaving in the eastbound lane on state Route 344. The driver, a 57-year-old from Petersburg, said he took some medication in the morning. He was not able to tell officers what day it was or who the president was. He was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Police spoke to his mother on the phone and she said he was having a diabetic episode.

— A caller at 5:33 p.m. Friday reported a blue nose pit bull and a three-legged poodle running across West State Street in front of his residence in the 1200 block. Police could not locate the two dogs.

— Miquaysha Hamlett, 24, of Youngstown, was cited for left of center and driving under suspension after a traffic stop on Chestnut Grove Road at 4:03 p.m. Friday. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and it was towed.

— A possible intoxicated driver was reported northbound on state Route 45 from Lisbon traveling towards Salem at 2:06 p.m. Friday. Deputies were enroute to look for the vehicle, a green Ford F-150 with a male driver. The vehicle was not found by police.

— A resident on Stewart Road reported at 8:50 a.m. Friday that his bank accounts were hacked through his computer. He already notified his bank and no money was missing at this time.

LEETONIA

— An officer responded to a 400 block Empire Street home at 6:01 a.m. Friday in reference to a medical call and performed CPR on the patient until Columbiana EMS arrived. The patient was transported to the Salem hospital.

— An officer responded to a 200 block Chestnut Street home at 3:21 p.m. Saturday in reference to a noise complaint. The officer could not hear any loud noises, but spoke to the residents of the home in question, one of which said he was playing music with his friends but was using caution and another who said she was watching TV and did not notice any loud noises. They were advised to keep the noise down in the future.

— An officer responded to a medical call at a 700 block Columbia Street church at 9:26 a.m. Sunday where a female individual said she felt nauseous. Medical personnel arrived and took over the scene.

— An officer responded to the 100 block of Main Street at 10:33 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported finding the back window of her vehicle broken sometime since she parked it on Friday.

— An officer responded to the 300 block of Columbia Street at 10:50 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported someone overnight had broken out the back window of his vehicle.

— An officer responded to an empty residence in the 400 block of Somer Street at 7:58 p.m. Sunday and found it to be under construction, but not worked on for a period of time. The residence was secure.

LISBON

–Police went to an apartment house at 889 N. Market Street at 1 a.m. Sunday after a caller reported hearing what sounded like a fight between a couple, with the woman being in the face by the man. Police arrived and questioned the woman, who said she was drunk when they arrived home from a bar in town and she tripped climbing the stairs. The woman said they were likely loud too. The woman denied being assaulted, and the only visible injuries were the scrapes on her leg from tripping on the stairs. The boyfriend denied hitting her, and he did not have an visible sign of injuries.

–Police were called to East of Chicago at 4:29 p.m. Wednesday in regard to a drunken man swearing at customers. Police arrived to find Richard Vecchio, 56, outside stumbling around and trying to hang onto a pole before falling to the ground. Vecchio, who admitted to drinking whiskey and beer, was cited for public intoxication, and he was transported by police to his home just outside town.

–Izzy Perez reported her car was vandalized while parked in the Catholic church parking lot Friday night. The car was egged and a white substance was used to scribble on the windows in an illegible manner.

–Diana Adams was working at the Valley View on Thursday when a man she knows stopped by to say he left his tools in her car. Adams took out the relay switch so the car could not start and then gave the man the keys. The next thing she knew the man honked as he drove away. A stolen vehicle report was filed.

–Dean Chamberlain, South Jefferson Street, reported a motorist drove through his yard sometime Thursday night. Chamberlain lives across from Shenanigan’s Pub and the tracks appear to have come from the tavern.

–An employee at the Vista Center called at 11 p.m. Thursday because of an unruly male patient. The man was recovering from heart surgery and wanted to leave because he was afraid of getting an infection. The man was allowed to leave by ambulance to be to transported to a local hospital.

–Susan Mullen of the Elkton Auto Corral reported Wednesday her estranged husband against whom she has a protection order drove by and then had a third party text message her on his behalf. Police spoke to the intermediary, who did not know there was a protection order in place. Police then contacted Jay Mullen and reminded him of the protection order and that he was not to have any contact with Susan or the business, even if she were to try to contact him.

NEW WATERFORD

— Police responded to the 3400 block of Maple Drive at 10:28 a.m. Sunday to assist locating the owner of a vehicle that was parked in someone’s front lawn.

— Police responded to the 3300 block of Pinewood Drive at 7:51 p.m. Saturday to take a criminal damage report regarding damaged clothing.

— Police responded to the 3400 block of Maple Drive at 12:17 a.m. Sunday for a suspicious vehicle complaint of a vehicle parked unoccupied partially on private property.

— Police responded to the 46000 block of state Route 46 at 6:15 p.m. Sunday for an alarm drop at the New Waterford Food Mart. The building was found to be secure.
