EL man gets 6 months in prison for having stolen checks, cocaine

LISBON — Mark E. Foden, 49, Park Place, East Liverpool, was sentenced to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and possession of cocaine on Thursday morning.

Court records indicate Foden had personal checks belonging to Patricia Wolfe on March 4 and cocaine on Sept. 21.

Foden told Judge Scott Washam he apologized for what happened to Wolfe, but he “knew nothing of it.” He claimed the checks were given to him by someone else and he did not know they were stolen.

Additionally, Foden denied he knew the drug paraphernalia item containing the cocaine was there, claiming the clothes it was inside had been washed several times. Foden said police took the item from him and did not charge him, then four months later he was indicted.

The six-month prison term was a jointly recommended sentence by Foden’s defense attorney, Colleen Hall-Dailey, and Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart. Foden was credited with one day served in jail.
