Man who pleads guilty to drug charges faces extradition for homicide in Pa.

LISBON — A Youngstown man pleaded guilty to eight drug-related counts in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, but he eventually is expected to face much bigger charges in Pennsylvania.

Eddie J. Robinson Jr., 25, also has an upcoming extradition hearing in county Municipal Court because Pennsylvania has a warrant for Robinson in a Sharon, Pa., case where the charge is criminal homicide for his alleged involvement in a home robbery shooting death in that city.

On Wednesday, Robinson pleaded guilty in Common Pleas Court here to the charges of tampering with evidence, trafficking in drugs and six counts of possession of drugs.

Court documents state that on July 27, 2017, Robinson had heroin, carfentanil and crack cocaine, baggies of which he is accused of removing or hiding. Additionally, on Nov. 1, 2017, Robinson allegedly had cocaine, heroin and clonazepam. The indictment in this county was issued by the grand jury in August 2018.

At the plea hearing, Wednesday, Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said she will recommend a two year prison sentence on the charges. Defense attorney Christopher Weeda noted Robinson was willing to waive asking for the presentencing investigation to be sentenced quickly.

However, while Jones had no objection to no presentencing investigation, she did request a sentencing date prior to the extradition hearing scheduled in county Municipal Court on Oct. 28.

The sentencing in Common Pleas Court was scheduled for Oct. 25.

When Robinson, also known as Jo Jo, was arraigned in Common Pleas Court in June, County Prosecutor Robert Herron had indicated Robinson was a suspect in a homicide in Sharon, where he was allegedly connected with the home robbery and shooting death of Khalil “Champ” Hopson, 24, in May.

At that time, Robinson had only been charged with possession of a firearm, while a co-defendant, Alexis Evonna Holmes, 20, New Castle, Pa., had been charged with homicide, robbery, burglary and solicitation to commit robbery and burglary.
