Meth seized in East Palestine traffic stop

EAST PALESTINE — Officers recovered over two pounds of suspected methamphetamine from a vehicle stopped on North Market Street in the village at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday.

Patrolman Colin Trayes conducted a traffic stop and patrolman Jake Koehler assisted in recovering marijuana, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments, along with with the suspected meth.

According to Chief Jim Brown, the driver of the vehicle, Brian Cramer, was arrested on an outstanding warrant through East Liverpool. The passenger, Sonya Shasteen, was charged with drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Cramer and Shasteen were both transported to the county jail without incident.

The case remains under investigation and will be submitted to the county grand jury pending lab results, Brown said.
