— The street department foreman called the fire department at 12:10 p.m. Thursday for an unknown substance in the storm sewer behind American Standard, 605 S. Ellsworth St. The street foreman had been contacted by a construction company working in the area and advised of a pink frothy liquid being in the storm sewer. Chief Scott Mason responded to investigate and found the storm sewer clear and nothing was found in the creek where the storm water flows. Mason spoke with the business and their representatives said no chemical should have run from the business and they do not use any pink or purple chemicals. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was notified of the situation. The scene was cleared by 12:35 p.m. Thursday.
