Salem

— Cody Barham was arrested at 2:18 a.m. on Sunday for a warrant. Officers stopped Barham in front of the Smith Center on East Fourth Street. Additional charges for drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine found on his person are pending. He was released to the custody of the sheriff’s department.

— Officers found two people sleeping in a vehicle parked in a Waterworth Memorial Park parking lot at 2:12 a.m. on Sunday. They were advised to move to a public lot.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Franklin Avenue for a well-being check at 9:57 p.m. on Saturday. Officers were told the “Help me” sign that prompted the call was a Halloween decoration that wasn’t put away.

— Officers responded to a vehicle lockout at 8:26 p.m. in the 2800 block of East State Street on Saturday. Officers gained entry to the vehicle.

— Officers went to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:11 p.m. on Saturday to remove a person from the property. Officers discovered the person had left already and was visiting with another person in the apartment building. Officers told the caller that the person was allowed to be on the property if another resident invited them over.

— Officers cited a juvenile for a stop sign violation at the intersection of South Ellsworth Avenue and Pershing Street, resulting in a traffic accident at 7:33 p.m. on Saturday. The 2007 Buick driven by the juvenile failed to stop while traveling south on South Ellsworth Avenue hitting a Dodge Ram truck traveling east on Pershing Street. Officers only reported a possibly chipped tooth from the accident and used security camera footage to confirm the violation. Both vehicles drove from the scene.

— Officers sighted Donald McClellan for improper backing at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday. McClellan had gone too far into the South Lundy Avenue and East Pershing Street intersection when stopping and had backed up hitting the vehicle behind him, causing minimal damage.

— Brandy Skiles was cited for OVI at 5:57 p.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to the 200 block of West State Street for an intoxicated driver and stopped the vehicle driven by Skiles. The passengers were also intoxicated and were released to a sober driver. Skiles was processed and booked before being released to a sober driver.

— Officers issued a failure to display valid registration parking ticket to a vehicle sitting in a lot in the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 5:32 p.m. on Saturday. The vehicle had expired registration and was left unattended.

— Officers helped the fire department recover a bicycle left in the 400 block of West School Street at 4:36 p.m. on Saturday.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East State Street for a juvenile problem at 4:07 p.m. on Saturday. Officers advised both sides to refrain from unnecessary public incidents.

— Kassandria Cole was charged with theft at 3:38 p.m. on Saturday, after being caught not scanning items at the self checkout line at Walmart. She was transported to the county jail.

— Officers responded to East State Street and North Union Avenue for a suspicious person call at 1:38 p.m. on Saturday. Officers did not find the suspicious person.

— Officers called Kaiser Towing to remove a disabled vehicle near South Ellsworth Avenue and Aetna at 10:42 a.m. on Saturday.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Salem Parkway for an injured deer at 7:05 a.m. on Saturday. The deer had been hit by a vehicle and the humane officer was called to retrieve it.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East State Street at 5:48 a.m. on Saturday for a suspicious person. Officers found the suspicious person taking photos of the new construction of the Alumni Association and advised him of the complaint.

–Officers dispatched to the area of Newgarden Avenue and Liberty Street for an unknown noise disturbance at 10 p.m. on Friday. Officers were unable to hear the reported noise.

— Officers assisted a driver at the station with a suspicious object left on their car at 10:22 p.m. on Friday.

— Tramaine Wright Jr. and Natosha Miller were charged with drug paraphernalia at 9:09 p.m. on Friday. They were stopped at Smith Oil after being observed leaving a known drug house. A K-9 unit was called in, and indicated narcotics, contraband was recovered and they were transported to the county jail.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Eighth Street for a barking dog at 8:27 p.m. on Friday. Officers located the dog and spoke with the owner who brought it inside.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street for an attempted suicide at 6:20 p.m. on Friday.

— Officers received recovered property at 5:38 p.m. at the station on Friday. The cell phone was damaged and no owner information was recovered.

— Officers destroyed contraband brought to them by an Essex employee around 5 p.m. on Friday. The employee said a newly admitted patient had brought it into the facility.

— Officers responded to a vehicle lockout at 4:44 p.m. in the 500 block of East State Street on Friday. Officers gained entry to the vehicle.

— Officers responded to a suspicious person near the South Broadway railroad tracks around 4 p.m. on Friday. Officers found the person and explained the laws and dangers of walking near the tracks.

— Officers left a 48-hour notice on a Jeep parked in front of an abandoned home in the 400 block of East Fourth Street at 4:28 p.m. on Friday.

— Officers took a report of an assault at the station at 4:40 p.m. on Friday. The assault was reported as happening on Wednesday in the 500 block of South Broadway.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Morgan Court at 3:07 p.m. for a dog bite. A medium sized dog had bit an Amazon delivery man in the knee while the driver was delivering a package to the home.

— Officers responded to a vehicle lockout at 3:05 p.m. in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue on Friday. Officers gained entry to the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Broadway for an irate person around 4 p.m. on Friday. By the time officers found him he had calmed down and was heading home.

— Officers responded to a vehicle lockout at 1:36 p.m. in the 2800 block of East State Street on Friday. Officers gained entry to the vehicle.

— Officers responded to an open door on a closed business located in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:50 p.m. on Friday. Officers found the owner inside.

— Officers responded to East School Street for a suspicious person at 12:26 p.m. on Friday. Officers found a person matching the description around Fourth Street and did not witness anything unusual.

— Officers received a criminal damaging report around noon on Friday in the 400 block of East Euclid Avenue. It was reported a vehicle was egged.

— Officers responded to an open door on a vacant home on Newgarden Avenue at 11:48 p.m. on Friday. Officers found the property secure.

— Officers called Kaiser Towing to remove a car from the intersection of West Wilson Street and South Howard Avenue at 10:11 p.m. on Friday.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street around 10 a.m. for a suspicious person. Officers located the person and told him he was no longer welcome in the business and would be facing charges if he returned to the property without a valid reason.

— Officers dispatched to North Lincoln for a report of a reckless operator at 9:51 a.m. on Friday. Officers did not observe any violations.

— Officers responded to the area of Cedar Ridge Drive and South Summit Street for a domestic around 6:25 a.m. on Friday. Officers spoke with both parties who said it was only verbal.
