Man clocked at 91 mph facing more than speeding charge
WASHINGTONVILLE — A registered sex offender has been charged after allegedly driving through Washingtonville at more than 90 miles an hour with a car load of teenagers.
According to WFMJ 21 News 26-year-old Antonio DeLeon of Columbiana was clocked at 91 mph, 56 over the 35 mph speed limit, while driving a driving a Cadillac CTS on state Route 14 in the village Saturday night.
When pulled over, DeLeon reportedly told the officer he thought the speed limit was still 55 mph, WFMJ reported. The limit drops from 55 to 35 when it goes through Washingtonville.
DeLeon’s passengers were a boy and a girl, both 14, along with a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
He was charged with child endangering, reckless operation and speeding and faces a court hearing in county court in Sebring today.
DeLeon is a Tier One sex offender, which requires a person register his residence annually for up to 15 years. He was convicted in 2017 of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, two 14-year-old girls, in Cuyahoga County.
