PERRY TWP.

— William G. Barr Jr., 52, of Salem, was cited for expired license, expired registration and fictitious plates after a traffic stop at 5:31 p.m. Sunday on East Pidgeon Road near South Lincoln Avenue. Police noticed a red Chevy Malibu and did a registration check, showing the registration expired in February 2019 on a teal Cadillac and the registered owner, Barr, had an expired license as of September 2019. A VIN check showed the registered plate expired in June 2017. The vehicle was towed and Barr released.

— Police at 7:50 a.m. Sunday spoke with a male by telephone regarding an ex-girlfriend about issues currently happening.

— Police responded to East Pine Lake Road at 2:33 a.m. Sunday at the request of another jurisdiction to make contact with someone allegedly involved in an incident in that department’s jurisdiction. Police knocked on the door several times with no answer.

— Sara Mcintosh, 19, of Salem, was cited for failure to control after police responded at 11:29 a.m. Saturday to the 1800 block of Egypt Road for a single-vehicle accident. She had been southbound, lost control and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was towed. No injuries were reported.

— Police responded at 6:32 p.m. Friday to a business in the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road for a report of a suspicious person jumping into a dumpster. No one was found.

— A caller at 11:25 a.m. Friday reported a suspicious person moving a wire across the road in the area of Cunningham Road at state Route 344. Police found a person who had run a heavy duty extension cord across the road for his electric chainsaw.

— Brandon Johnson, 32, of Salem, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign after his vehicle stopped for stop sign on Georgetown Road and pulled in front of a southbound vehicle on state Route 45 driven by Tyler Davis, 27, of North Lima, and was struck by the Davis vehicle at 10:52 a.m. Friday. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

SALEM

— Police were called at 5:29 a.m. Monday to the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue to assist KLG and first responders for a female becoming combative with EMS employees. Officers were able to get the female calmed down and she was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. Police had been to the same property at 4:45 a.m. to assist a female who was unable to turn her vehicle off due to a recent medical injury. An officer turned the vehicle off and gave the female her key.

— Police responded at 3:29 a.m. Monday to the 700 block of North Lincoln avenue for a report of two males running. Officers did not see anyone in the area. The caller called back and advised the same incident while officers were directly across the street. They still saw no males running in the area.

— Police responded for suspicious activity at 3:19 a.m. Monday in the area of Robin Avenue and Merle Road, with a caller advising of several males running around and jumping into a tan van with the side door open. Officers located the vehicle and discovered it was for newspaper delivery.

— Suspicious persons were reported at 12:03 a.m. Monday in the 1100 block of East Pershing where a caller reported an unknown male in the hallway of her apartment building, but left.

— K-9 Simon and his handler responded at 11:41 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of Miller Road and Grafton for a crashed stolen vehicle. Due to the time since the vehicle was crashed, no track could be attempted.

— A fight was reported at 11:03 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue where officers found all parties yelling at each other. Officers separated the parties and gathered information. The parties separated for the night and police told the victim the information will be sent to the prosecutor for review and to call if the person returns.

— A driver was issued a verbal warning for a traffic violation after a traffic stop at 9:42 p.m. Sunday on North Ellsworth Avenue. K-9 Simon was deployed and officers performed a probable cause search on the vehicle, locating contraband inside and taking it as evidence.

— A suspicious person was reported sleeping in the hallway of an apartment building in the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 9:36 p.m. Sunday, but was not found.

— A suspicious vehicle/person was reported at 7:59 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East State Street where a vehicle was parked in the lot and a person walked around it. Police made contact with the driver who said he got out, walked around the vehicle and into Pizza Hut to use the restroom.

— A driver received a verbal warning for several traffic violations after a traffic stop at 7:12 p.m. Sunday on Georgetown Road at West State Street. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor and contraband residue was found in the vehicle.

— Police responded at 5:32 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Aetna Street for a hit/skip involving a silver Ford SUV legally parked and unoccupied that was struck by another vehicle which fled the scene. There was damage to the left side mirror of the SUV.

— Wesley Clarke, 29, of 420 S. County Road, Washingtonville, was charged with drug paraphernalia and taken into custody on a warrant out of Columbiana County after police responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for a person to be removed at 3:57 p.m. Sunday. Police discovered the warrant and during a search incident to his arrest, officers found he had a scale with white residue and a plastic bag with white powder. Additional charges are pending lab results.

— Officers at 3:03 p.m. Sunday found graffiti on the side of a garage in the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue.

— An open door was found at 12:34 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Woodland. Police checked the interior and found everything secure, then secured the door before leaving.

— A man at 9:51 a.m. Sunday reported possibly dropping his wallet in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. He canceled his credit cards but was notified an unknown person attempted to use the canceled card online.

— Christopher Ewing, 35, of 14422 Fink Road, Kensington, was taken into custody on a warrant and additionally charged with resisting arrest after officers located him inside a garage on Aetna at 5:17 a.m. Sunday. He started to resist officers and failed to comply with officers’ commands. A taser was administered and the male placed into custody and taken to jail.

— Police were called at 4:24 a.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Newgarden for an assault report. The victim said he was assaulted on Aetna by another male. He had a severe laceration to the back of his head and was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital in Youngstown by EMT. The victim was unable to provide a statement due to the medical and intoxication level. The male suspect was located on Aetna Street but refused to provide a statement. The incident is under investigation.

— Police responded at 11:43 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of East Third Street for a report of someone smoking marijuana. Police were unable to make contact at the apartment in question and did not smell marijuana.
