SALEM FIRE

— The cause of a vehicle fire that started in the engine compartment was deemed undetermined after firefighters were called to the parking lot of the former Dairy Queen, 987 W. State St., at 11:49 a.m. Monday. Firefighters found moderate fire in the engine compartment and placed a chock at the rear tire of the 2003 Jeep Liberty since it was parked on an incline. The hood and doors were opened and a small amount of fire was extinguished in the passenger area. The thermal imaging camera was used to check areas and no further hot spots were found. The vehicle owned by Dan Kaiser was towed from the scene by Kaiser Towing.
