LISBON — An April 2 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set in county Municipal Court for Joshua C. Kersey, 37, Sixth Street, Wellsville, charged with first-degree felony aggravated burglary and second degree-felony robbery charges, as well as midemeanor counts of criminal damaging, criminal trespassing and domestic violence.
Kersey allegedly used a crow bar to pry open the front door of a home on Crews Road, Wellsville, on March 22, shattered both a bedroom window and a rear glass door window, and destroyed a kitchen chair in an attempt to harm Rachel Zelasko and intimidate a 14-year-old boy. Kersey also allegedly took a lighter and a cigarette and demanded money from Zelasko. Another resident, Edward Zelasko, told Kersey to get off the property and Kersey has been not allowed in the home prior to this time.
A felony carrying a concealed weapon charge against Cody A. Lawson, 23, Somer Street, Leetonia, was amended to a misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon charge regarding a large machete and a knife larger than four inches found next to his driver seat when he fled the vehicle on March 17.
An April 2 pretrial was set for Lawson for the new charge along with other misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, failure to comply, driving under suspension and expired plates. The receiving stolen property charge is for allegedly having stolen jewelry found inside an abandoned Chevy Cavalier, after he fled on foot to avoid apprehension.
