LISBON

— The dog park gate was found to have been vandalized on May 21, with the gate bent open and red awning unclipped from the post.

— Police were called to a domestic dispute at the South Market Street bridge at 1 p.m. May 19. A young man and his mother were arguing, and the juvenile was told to calm down. The mother said she had it under control, so the officer left.

SALEM

— A caller at 4:32 a.m. Wednesday reported a suspicious vehicle with one person opening multiple mailboxes. Officers were familiar with the registered owner being involved in a news delivery service and suspected zero suspicious activity.

— A dispute was reported at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Fourth Street where a man was standing outside yelling for his neighbor to come outside to fight him. Officers told him to go inside for the night.

— A woman in the 300 block of East Fourth Street reported at 2:46 a.m. Wednesday that she had an argument with her boyfriend and she wanted him to leave. She said he left and headed south toward Second Street. He wasn’t found. Officers explained the residency laws to the woman.

— A suspicious person was reported at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Third Street where a male was laying in the grass near the caller’s residence. The male told police he was visiting a friend that lives in an apartment nearby and they were enjoying the weather and looking at the stars. They went in for the night.

— Police at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday attempted to stop a motorcycle on West State near Jennings for a moving violation. The motorcycle failed to yield and began to flee from police, leading police on a pursuit south on Depot Road. Due to the circumstances, the pursuit was terminated on Depot near Teegarden Road.

— Brian Gasior, 19, of 771 N. Lincoln Ave., was charged with assault and theft after police investigated a fight in progress in the 800 block of North Ellsworth at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday. Several people pointed to a vehicle pulling into an address when police arrived. Officers made contact with the victim, who was bleeding from the mouth and said several people started a fight with him in the parking lot and one of them reached into his car and stole his beer. They then followed him to his residence and assaulted him some more before fleeing on foot. They were located a few blocks away, with Gasior and one male juvenile taken into custody. The victim declined medical attention, but Gasior was taken to the hospital for an injury to his hand. He was treated and released, then taken to jail. The juvenile was released to a parent, pending charges through Juvenile Court.

— Police responded to the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday to check the well-being of a female, who said she was ok. She was told to talk with her case worker.

— Items recovered at GetGo gas station on East State were turned over to police at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, including a registration and an insurance card.

— A cell phone recovered in the 1500 block of Cleveland Street was turned over to police at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday and placed in the lost and found.

— Police were called at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday to the 1600 block of East State Street for grass clippings blown into the street. The person was told about the complaint and said they won’t do it again.

— A theft was reported at 4:21 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart on East State where a male took a flashlight valued at $39.97. The case is under investigation.

— Timothy Lodge, 31, of West Pershing Street, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension and an equipment violation after a traffic stop on East Fourth Street at North Lincoln at 7:57 p.m. Monday.

— A juvenile was reported riding a bike near the road at 2:01 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of West Fifth Street, but was not found.

— An officer at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday met with a worker from Columbiana County Children Services regarding an alleged sex offense that happened in the city between two male juveniles four years ago. One of the male juveniles was interviewed with his mother present. The incident is under further review.

— A man on East School Street reported at 12:52 p.m. Tuesday that the land bank owns a property in the 700 block of East Fourth Street and no one is supposed to be there. Police found no one there. The man was advised his options in dealing with a vehicle left on the property and to call if he sees anyone on the property.

— Police responded to the 600 block of Olive Street at 12:22 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a semi truck striking power lines. The driver said he forgot to lower his truck bed and struck multiple power lines and pulled three lines from two homes. Ohio Edison responded to turn off the power and firefighters closed the road. The truck driver was able to lower the bed.

— A man on Monroe Street reported at 12:03 p.m. Tuesday that someone took the license plates off his vehicle overnight.

— A loose chicken was reported in the 1900 block of Monroe at 10:14 a.m. Tuesday. Officers located the chicken and the humane officer was contacted, but nobody was able to catch it.

— A member of the beautification committee reported at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday that two boxwood bushes were stolen from two large pots on the east side of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce building. They were going to be replanted at another location on city property prior to the building being transferred to the new owner.

— Officers at 4:55 p.m. May 23 spoke with a Woodland Avenue man about some issues he was having with a family member.
