SHERIFF’S OFFICE

–Multiple charges were filed against Tim Johnson, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon and Mark Fraser, Alpha Street, East Liverpool, after deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Roller Coaster Road at 12:24 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was occupied by Johnson and Fraser, with Fraser fleeing from the scene. A handgun was seen on the driver’s side floorboard and Johnson was ordered from the vehicle, but he began to resist and had to be wrestled to the ground. Johnson reportedly managed to escape from the deputy and run into the woods. Other deputies, aided by the state troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol, assisted in the search but the pair were not found. Also found in the vehicle were suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. The report did not say what they were charged with.

— A resident of Taylor Road, Middleton Township, reported Friday a dirt bike was stolen from her shed, and her landscape lighting had been vandalized. She called back later to say a neighor’s child had taken the bike and returned it, but she did not wish to pursue charges.

–Deputies were called to a party on Taylor Road, Middleton Township, at 11:23 p.m. Saturday, but the homeowner denied any underage drinking was going on.

–A deputy was asked by an ambulance crew to control the crowd that had gathered at the scene of an accident on Miller Road, Center Township at 4:27 p.m. Friday.

–A caller reported someone in a white Ford pickup truck had dumped trash on the side of Foundry Hill Road, Franklin Township, at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday. The deputy was unable to locate the truck.

— Brian Groves, First Street, Hanoverton, called at 11:25 a.m. Saturday because he wanted his ex-wife who lived with him removed. The deputy told him this was a civil matter. While there, the deputy took Groves into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant.

–Deputies responded to a drug overdose on state Route 170 near the Negley Volunteer Fire Department at 6:29 p.m. Tuesday. EMTs were able to revive the man who overdosed, and he was transported to a local hospital.

–A caller from a farm on McCracken Road, Salem Township, reported hearing gunshots and projectiles whizz over her head and over some of the livestock. She called after finding projectiles on her property. Deputies went to a home on Salem Grange Road, where they saw a group of people shooting clay pigeons. The deputy advised the family they were shooting into a valley toward multiple structures, and they said they were done shooting. The deputy returned to the farm and began hearing shots again coming from the same residence. The deputy returned to the Salem Grange Road property and told the family they needed to find a proper backstop.

–Deputies were called Saturday to the Sunoco station on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township, where a man was reportedly causing a disturbance. It turned out the man was homeless, so the deputies transported the man to the Rescue Mission in Steubenville.

–A caller reported Friday someone on Apples Way Circle, Fairfield Township, was shooting a high-powered rifle. Deputies found a group shooting shotguns, pistols and a .22-caliber rifle. They were made aware of the complaint and told they needed a safe backdrop before they could resume shooting.
