Woman, 34, sentenced to prison for aggravated arson in Sebring
YOUNGSTOWN — Karlie R. Hale, 34, was sentenced to three- to four-and-a-half years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to the Jan. 20 aggravated arson of a home at 334 N. 16th St. in Sebring.
Assistant prosecutor Aaron Meikle said Hale set a fire in the upstairs bedroom of the home while three people were inside. All three got out safely, but the home was a total loss.
Hale set the fire as a result of a domestic dispute with one of the three people inside the home. But after starting the fire, she texted the victim and told her that her bedroom was on fire, Meikle said.
The home had been condemned, the doors had been nailed shut and the heat to the house had been shut off, Meikle said. The occupants of the home used a window to get out.
Surveillance video from nearby showed someone looking like Hale walking away from the home after the fire started, Meikle said.
