Sebring man faces prison for OVI count
KNOX TOWNSHIP — A 49-year-old Sebring man is facing prison time pending action in court on a drunken driving charge.
According to the highway patrol, troopers stopped a 2008 Jeep Wrangler for a speeding violation on U.S. 62 west of Salem shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. The driver, Jeffery Harper, failed field sobriety tests, the patrol said, and was subsequently arrested for OVI. He submitted to breath test and registered a .161 BAC, twice the legal limit of .08.
Harper was cited for OVI, a third-degree felony, along with driving under OVI suspension and speeding and taken to the county jail.
Over his lifetime, the patrol said, Harper has been cited for OVI seven times, including twice for felony OVI. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, the patrol said.
