POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— Police responded at 3:04 a.m. Friday to the 300 block of South Avenue, along with medical personnel, for a medical. The person was taken to the hospital.

— A resident in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 1:22 a.m. Friday that an unknown driver drove into the grass nearly striking a sign in the yard and the apartment building. The vehicle was not found.

— An officer on patrol at 12:56 a.m. Friday saw a man sitting in the snow partially in the curb lawn with his legs out in the road on South Lundy Avenue at Bank Street. He was found highly intoxicated. His mother was contacted to pick him up at the station and he was warned for disorderly/public intoxication.

— A man in the 500 block of Cherry Street reported at 11:11 p.m. Thursday that he misplaced his credit card in December and when he received his statement at the end of December, a charge of $7,813 was on his account. He was unsure if he misplaced the card in Salem or in Arkansas where he was traveling for work.

— Kacey Rohaley, 52, whose last known address was West Pershing Street, was taken into custody on an active warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia after police were dispatched at 9:59 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of East Wilson Street. The call came in as a possible medical, with the fire department also responding, for an open line. There was no medical but a man wanted a female removed from his residence. Police discovered the warrant out of Columbiana County for Rohaley and turned her over to a deputy to be taken to jail.

— Suspicious activity was reported at 5:46 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Washington Avenue. A resident, who was not home, said he saw a person walking around his residence on his security video. Police found the residence secure and did not find anyone.

— A man came on station at 5:31 p.m. Thursday to report his catalytic converter removed from his vehicle parked in the 500 block of East Fifth Street.

— A parent in the area of Sharp at 4:08 p.m. Thursday reported a possible incident that occurred on a Salem city school bus with a driver and student. The incident is under investigation.

— A woman in the 100 block of West Third Street reported at 2:43 p.m. Thursday that someone gained access to her online accounts.

— A man in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue reported at 12:49 p.m. Thursday that he believed his tenant had been smoking marijuana on his property and may be involved in drug activity. He had not witnessed anything but believed he smelled it. He’s going through the eviction process.

— A caller at 12:12 p.m. Thursday reported a suspicious male sitting inside a truck in her driveway in the 600 block of East Seventh Street. The driver told police he had the wrong address and was trying to find the right one. He was told he needed to leave, which he did.

— A reckless operator was reported at 11:22 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue where a caller said a white Chevy truck entered his lane of travel, causing him to travel slightly off the road while westbound. While speaking with the caller, the suspect vehicle was driving past. Police spoke to the driver, who said he didn’t realize there was an issue when he initially passed the other vehicle. There was no damage.

— Officers at 10:29 a.m. Thursday received a complaint regarding concern for an elderly person who resides in the apartment complex on Monroe with the caller. The incident is under investigation.

— Police were called at 9:12 a.m. Thursday to the 1900 block of East State Street for a suspicious person. Staff showed police a video recording from the previous night of a male sitting in the parking lot for an extended time. When he was confronted by security personnel, he said he was waiting for a friend to get off of work, but then left.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

— A woman from the 1400 block of West State Street talked with officers at 10:48 a.m. Friday about a protection order violation with an ex-boyfriend. Police spoke with the prosecutor’s office and believed no such violation took place.

NEW WATERFORD

— James A. Moreland, 38, Colony Drive, New Waterford, was charged with domestic violence after an officer responded to his home at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday where his wife reported he had grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against a stove.

— Richard May, 44, New Waterford, was charged with menacing by stalking after an officer responded to the are of Spruce Street near North State Street at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday where a resident reported he was driving around the house.

COLUMBIANA

— David M. Liptay, 20, Columbiana, was arrested for an outstanding warrant through county sheriff’s office after officers responded to a residence on state Route 14 for a civil matter concerning a failed purchase agreement at 11:49 a.m. Thursday.

LISBON

— An officer was advised by dispatch at 4:50 p.m. Thursday of a girl who left her residence while her parents were not home. The girl was found at a neighbor’s house, but she initially refused to leave with her father and stated that he struck her in the face after an argument about school work. The officer transported the girl back to her residence on North Market Street with no issues.

— Officers responded to an accident in the ally behind East Lincoln Way at 9:46 a.m. Feb. 12. Angel Robinson, Lisbon, was backing out of her driveway when her vehicle slid on ice and slid into the vehicle of Theresa Ann Decapio, Salem, that was parked along the side of the ally.
