— A road rage incident was reported at 8:52 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of East Pershing Street. A traffic stop was initiated on a Buick Rendezvous on Highland Avenue near Cleveland Street after the registration came back to a Jeep. The driver was given a warning after proof of purchase was shown.
— Police were called at 7:46 p.m. Thursday to Centennial Park for a possible fire after a caller said the swimming pool area of the park appeared to be on fire. Officers located a legal fire in the 400 block of South Union Avenue, which is near Centennial Park.
— A combative patient was reported at 7:16 p.m. Thursday at Salem Regional Medical Center on East State Street. Hospital employees said the patient became irate after being treated and discharged. He said he became upset after not receiving prescription medication. He was told to leave and not return unless it’s an emergency.
— A Southeast Boulevard resident in the 1900 block at 6:19 p.m. Thursday reported a possible scam involving a fraud call allegedly from the IRS. He wanted other residents to be aware.
— Police were called at 5:15 p.m. Thursday to Walmart on East State Street for a theft. A charge will be issued.
— Derek Ball, 32, East Sixth Street, was cited for stop sign/right of way violation after his vehicle on Aetna stopped at a stop sign and then pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue driven by Kevin Clark, 25, Beloit, at 5:02 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported. The Clark vehicle was towed by Davidson Towing.
— Police were called at 3:09 p.m. Thursday to Home Depot, East State Street, for a shoplifter. A store employee said a woman concealed $685 worth of tools and batteries in her purse, then paid for an item and left. She was stopped at the doors but kept going, leaving the purse behind containing the items. A male who was with the woman also had items concealed in his pants. The purse was taken as evidence, video will be reviewed and charges are pending.
— Allen Van Cooney, 26, South Union Avenue, was taken into custody at 2:31 p.m. Thursday on Aetna Street for a warrant for failure to appear.
— Police responded to the 400 block of Legacy Lane at 1:36 p.m. Thursday to check on an elderly female who had been at the business several times saying she had an appointment when she did not. She was able to answer basic questions and said she did not need medical attention. She was sent on her way.
— A shoplifter was reported at Walmart on East State Street at 12:51 p.m. Thursday when asset protection personnel witnessed a person fail to scan $221 worth of merchandise. The person was told a summons to court would be issued at a later date.
