Police Reports


— Abbey Vanhorn, 22, Newgarden Avenue, was cited for right of way and temporary permit violation after the northbound vehicle she was driving on Lundy Avenue stopped at the stop sign and crossed East Second Street, getting struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Bryanna Vangiesen, 20, Lisbon, at 9:42 p.m. Thursday. Airbags deployed in the Vangiesen vehicle, but there were no injuries. The fire department and KLG arrived but no medical attention was needed. Sinsley Towing removed the Vangiesen vehicle from the road.

— Police responded at 11:34 p.m. Saturday to investigate a dispute in the area of Rose Avenue and Third Street. The parties were gone upon arrival.

–A dog at large was reported at 7:06 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Newgarden. The dog was taken to a safe location until the owner can be reached.

–A report of an allegedly malfunctioning traffic light was received at 12:35 p.m. Saturday in the area of North Madison and East State.

— An anonymous woman reported at 3:06 p.m. Friday that she received notification for a pending case with Ohio Job and Family Services seeking financial assistance and she had never applied.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 4:06 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Continental Drive.

— A male caller reported at 7:68 p.m. Friday that a vintage bicycle that he was working on was missing from behind his residence in the 200 block of East Fifth Street. The matter remains under investigation.

— Cell phones were recovered Friday at 7:30 a.m. in the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue and in the 2700 block of East State Street.

— Noise complaints were received at 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of East Fifth Street, at 10:18 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North Union Avenue and at 4:40 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of East Third Street.

— Police investigated a complaint of a male subject crawling through an opening in a garage in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 7:07 p.m.

— An officer discarded at 4:43 p.m. Friday of a needle found at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Hawley Avenue.

— Welfare checks were performed Friday at 1 p.m. in the 2200 block of Oak Street and at 5:56 p.m. in the 1800 block of Fairview Court. The individuals were fine.

— A male reported at 8:40 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue that he was being harassed via cell phone. The claim will be forwarded to the prosecutor for possible charges.

— A woman reported at 8:51 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of East Fourth Street that she is being threatened with incriminated photos and videos by an ex.

–A Ravenna woman reported at 5:39 p.m. Friday that her vehicle was invol ved in a private property crash in the 1900 block of East State Street, but the other vehicle fled the scene.

— Claude Kidder and Spencer Cross were involved in a two-vehicle crash at 12:27 p.m. Saturday in the area of Romine Alley, where they allegedly struck each other while backing up in the alley. No citations were issued.

— Two intoxicated subjects located behind the Speedway gas station at 10:43 p.m. Saturday were sent home.

— Police responded at 4:48 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of East Third Street for a reported neighbor dispute.

— Officers responded at 10:37 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Granite Avenue for a dispute between neighbors. The fire department was called to put a small fire in a pit out. The complainant didn’t wish to press charges.

— While on scene at another call in the 300 block of Rose, officers were notified at 3:43 a.m. Saturday of damage done to a vehicle by a subject that had gotten into a verbal altercation with the vehicle’s owner and kicked the driver side front door. The individual was notified that the owner would be the one to make the report.

— A mattress was discovered dumped at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Bentley.

— A woman called police at 1:55 p.m. Saturday to express dissatisfaction with her care in a 200 block of Continental Drive facility. Upon arrival, police told her that this was not a police matter and she needed to contact her family if she wanted to leave the facility.

— A city humane officer was dispatched along with police at 3:37 p.m. Saturday to the 300 block of West Ninth Street for two dogs at large.

— Police and fire responded at 3:50 a.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street. A male subject, attempting to steal fuel from a vehicle, had gotten his finger stuck in the vehicle’s gas tank and they had to free it before transporting him to Salem Regional Medical Center. The property owner didn’t wish to pursue charges.

— A male subject reported at 2:04 a.m. Saturday in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Pershing Street that he had had been threatenedby another male, who denied the allegations.

— A two-vehicle crash involving Charles Smith and Brandon Smith at 1:44 p.m. Saturday at a stop sign near Penn Avenue and State Street. No citations were issued.


— Officers received a report regarding criminal damaging from an address on Springfield Road Thursday morning.

— Alexis Koziorynski, 30, of Columbiana was arrested on an active warrant during a traffic stop on State Route 14 near County Line Road Thursday night.
