POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— A breaking and entering in progress with suspects possibly having a gun was reported at 6:16 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard. A woman said she heard three knocks at her back door. Police found the exterior secure with no one located outside. The woman said different vehicles always drive past her residence and people are harassing her. She did not see the person or know for sure if they had a gun. She was told to keep her doors locked and call police if they return.

— A domestic was reported at 9:48 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of West State Street where a woman said she had a verbal altercation with her husband and he already left the area.

— Police were asked at 9:36 p.m. Sunday to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue to check the well-being of a juvenile. Police spoke with the child’s father, who said the juvenile was ok and was asleep. The person did not appear intoxicated, as the police were advised by the caller.

— A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 7:40 p.m. Sunday on West State Street in a dark-colored Ford truck reportedly speeding and all over the road. The vehicle was stopped on South Madison Avenue at East State Street. The driver was told about the complaint, but was not intoxicated and was sent on their way.

— A woman in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 7:19 p.m. Sunday that someone stole her debit card from her residence.

— An open door was reported at 6:13 p.m. Sunday on an abandoned residence on East Sixth Street. Police entered and search with no signs of forced entry found.

— A juvenile problem was reported at 11:37 a.m. Sunday on Arch Street where a mother was having behavioral issues with her son.

— Two backpacks with multiple items inside were reported in the 700 block of East Fourth Street at 10:24 a.m. Sunday. Officers identified the possible owner but were unable to make contact. The items were placed at the police station for safekeeping.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

— A woman on West Pine Lake Road reported harassment at 7:36 p.m. Sunday, saying that her ex-boyfriend keeps showing up on her property and calling from restricted numbers. Police will speak with him and trespass him from the property.

— Police were called at 7:42 a.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of Prospect Street Extension for an unwanted person. The person left on a bicycle and was not found.

— A reckless operator was reported at 4:38 p.m. Saturday on state Route 45 near Depot Road. An officer found the vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue near Stone Mill Condos. The driver just got back from Dairy Queen and showed no sign of impairment.

— A neighbor complaint was reported at 4:56 p.m. Saturday on Van Buren Avenue in the 1600 block. Officers spoke with all involved parties, warned them for disorderly conduct and told them to cease contact with each other.

— A possible fight was reported at 9:06 p.m. Saturday at the Saxon Club on state Route 9. Police learned a verbal disagreement took place at a wedding. Parties said they took care of the issue by having the people involved leave.

— Michael Sajka, 55, Alliance, was cited for a headlights violation after police investigated suspicious males an officer saw walking around the parking lot at Circle K South on South Lincoln Avenue at 10:04 p.m. Friday. The officer saw them approach two vehicles parked behind Circle K and did a check, finding the owner of one vehicle suspended and the BMV wanting the vehicle’s registration. The officer saw the one vehicle leave and conducted a traffic stop for two headlights required. The registered owner was not driving, but the driver, Sajka, was cited.

COLUMBIANA

— Best Western staff contacted police early Friday morning regarding harassment to both staff and guests coming from Lance J. Steffel, 66. Staff members requested the man be removed however Steffel was arrested for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct.

— Officers arrested Keith A. Mohney, 24, of Columbiana Friday for speed offense, OVI and OVI refusal following a traffic stop on State Route 7 near Heck Road.

— A roll over accident occurred at approximately 12:19 a.m. Saturday. Officers cited Monique Jimperson, 28, of Columbiana for reasonable control, driving under suspension, fictitious plates and OVI.

— Officers arrested Peggy Bishop, 44, of Petersburg, Sunday following a traffic stop on State Route 14. Bishop was arrested on a Columbiana Sheriff Office warrant.

LEETONIA

— Officers responded to a Pine Street home at 11 p.m. Sept. 22 regarding a domestic dispute. A babysitter was seeking refuge from the homeowner who she said came home intoxicated and was behaving destructively. According to reports, the homeowner allegedly threatened to harm a baby and proceed to harm individuals at a local tavern he had recently visited. He had also allegedly had previous physical altercations that evening including smashing his head into a vehicle window. Officers called for back up from Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and State Highway Patrol. Officers were able to make contact with the homeowner’s girlfriend who granted permission to search the residence. Officers found the bedroom appeared to be torn apart, a door off the hinges and the girlfriend appeared to have a blackened eye. The girlfriend advised officers the event was out of character for her boyfriend. Statements regarding the incident were gathered before the call was cleared.
